Tasmania Meanwhile in Tasmania.

We as all know the VFL. Its the clubs in one state. Its what clearly shakes the AFL tail. You should remove your rose coloured glasses ;)

I note that interest rates are rising in the USA. That puts pressure in Australia on international money. Ours will go up sooner rather than later & start to pressure borrowers.

Yeah, even though the tiny detail that Victoria in UNDER represented on the commision that runs the league (in terms of teams and/or fans), it's all some big conspiracy....*sure*

As for interest rates...As stated above...SO WHAT. How would that effect the prospects of a Tas team in the slightest?

Economic problems tend NOT to help the economically struggling like Tasmania.

10 teams in Victoria & 2 more owned by the AFL. I think we can see who has the influence & say on all matters.

We were talking about the pressure on clubs in Victoria. That wouldnt affect Tasmania nearly as much as the highly geared major cities.

And where do the commissioners come from?

This supposed influence of the Vic clubs has been very good to those outside Vic...

Tasmania doesn't exist in a vaccuum. For one thing, it relies on Vic, NSW & WA for the MASSIVE amount of GST it gets ( the *Extra* GST Tas receives is about 3% of their economy and about 15% of state Government revenue). If people in the states that provide that money can't spend as much because more is going to their mortgages, then the GST they pay will be lower and Tas will get less money.

Add to that that if the AFL is getting less money, it wont invest in new clubs, especially one that will be financially marginal even in good times, and certainly not where to hoped for major sponsor (The Tas government) is itself struggling. (There are entire books on business confidence you can reference for this).

That your big hope is to drag other states back to your level shows just how far behind Tas is, and how difficult the task of catching up would be.

There is no big anti-Tas conspiracy, just recognition of the fact that Tas is so tiny in all relevant factors.
