I think like most fans i have a man crush on Medders .. BUT

Trav was hungry yesterday, he had fire in his belly and he wanted it more than anyone else. His two tackels, one where he was waiting behind the player like a man possessed and the other one where he slammed the freo player (Schammer?) into the ground had 'intent' written all over. Last week Trav started to get his feel for the game back and yesterday might be the day where he has left his off field demons behind.

Was it Mike Sheehan's article in the paper on Saturday maybe :p

Cloke was crapola. Did you see in the last quarter when he had to run in to take a chest mark and take some body contact as well to do it, and he chose just to stick a hand out and get no contact, and no mark.

Weak as.

I would drop him just for that.

He didn't do much considering we were playing a pretty crappy team.

But his continued expression of fear on the foot field doesnt augur well for his performances under physical pressure he will receive from better teams.

Did he not pull out of that contest for fear of injury?

Guys, calm down. My point was that Medders is able to deliver that 30m pass insude the F50 to the forwards advantage consistently, something I am yet to see any of the other forwards do.
Didak can do it, but he would rather have a shot from anywhere within range while Medders more often then not will hit a target in a better position then him. Invaluable when you need to make your inside 50s count.

You've got to be kidding?

He was running flat out towards goal and the kick was quite flat which meant that he could not change direction. He ran straight ahead but the ball just tipped the top of his fingers. He didn't deviate at all.

To take one of those Jonathan Brown type marks the ball needs hang time.

I think you are being ridiculously harsh.

after the game yesterday i had the same thought and it is interesting to see this post. with medhurst in the side, it essential gives us three targets in our forward line (anthony, medhurst and cloke) and therefore there is less reliance on cloke.

I agree, the defenders have to stick to our forwards and can not go third up because Cloke, Medders and Anthony demand respect. You can not play loose on any of them as they will hurt you. (That statement is subject to the midfield delivering the ball to AFL standard, but I think you get my point). :)

Cloke did not deviate from his line and the whole time had eyes only for the ball, you can see his head turn towards the oncoming player just as the footy hit his fingers. He wouldn't be sure what was coming, in fact it was Tarrant that sidestepped just b4 a collision.

I think you are the one that needs to be dropped, Gent.

Also see the first quarter 13:38 to go. Cloke went back with the flight and took a chest mark and his eyes never deviated from the ball despite a Fremantle player in his path, if it wasn't for Didak's shephard (which was questionably legal) he would have been smashed, and it wasn't like Cloke was aware of Didak's shephard on Dodd.

saw it no issue, he stretched for the kick, no chance for a brown head first dive.
