More off a team player at Collingwood. Its also interesting how Farmer was a freak at Melbourne but has now gone backwards.

I will give you the team player aspect ...getting traded however can have that affect on some.

Farmer has been excellent for us for many years - he just does not get the coverage over East.

If I had the power of hindsight and a choice between a 18 year old Farmer and Monkey - I would take Farmer everyday of the week.

On form currently there is no doubt that Medders is better.

I agree with the bulk of the analysis.

Medders always had the talent but he is being used in a greater capacity at Collingwood. He simply works better within our structure as our small forwards don't compete with each other for the glory of it.

I can't say whether or not his 03/04 form is better than his 08 form, as I can't say I was watching Freo closely during the period. Looking off simple numbers alone I'd say he is having a better season than back then. He is averaging more possessions, more tackles and doing the 1%ers.

Last year he had a hot and cold season yet he had great finals series. The week before the Geelong game we played West Coast in the semi-final and Didak's and Medder's efforts towards the end were the reasons we won that one.

I don't believe that he was anywhere near the reason we lost the Geelong prelim. He kicked 3 and setup another, one of which was at a crucial time and put us in front.

All in all. He is in great form at the moment and Tarrant is showing patches of form for Freo but then again HE always did. Tarrant has always had the potential but never came through with the delivery of it... even with us.

You obviously didn't watch any Freo games while Medhurst was at his "peak" for Freo. If you did you would understand what kind of a clueless moron you sound like.
And yet Medhurst's numbers accross the board are better in 2008 than his Freo golden years. The clueless moron hat fits some better than others.

It is just a balance to this hypothetical - IMHO Taz into that team for Medhurst means Mick can plan to use a mid range ruck (ala Gilmore/Bradley) - Ottens does not get the freedom/Harley may need to find an opponet and suddenly the game is a lot, lot closer.
It's silly debating this because Buckley refused to play in a team that included Tarrant in the end.

Some of Buckley's hammy "injuries" weren't if you know what I mean...

Which makes what we paid for Tarrant even more sickening. Knowing this, he was going no matter what they got. What a joke.

Yes and I have some magic beans that you plant in the ground that turns into a giant beanstalk.

When the Pinocchio Pantomime hits town you should audition for the lead role, you'd be fantastic.

[/quote] Freo wanted him and a fair price was extracted, you weren't going to get him for nothing and there were plenty of other clubs in the queue

pointless & rubbish thread.
See the quality of collingwood muppets it attracts.

Yeah I didn't mean for it to be another "Medhurst @ Freo V Medhurst @ Collingwood" thread.

I posted it before work and wanted Freo people to comment on the below highlighted bits, but didn't have time to write that as I was rushing...

But the Fremantle culture, even in the Dockers' 14th year in the AFL competition, remains the club's biggest Achilles heel, one that appears to have kicked in again as recently as the past month, and losses to Geelong, Melbourne, the Western Bulldogs and Carlton in which the Dockers let winning positions slip.

There isn't enough gnashing of teeth and heartache when Freo is on the receiving end. No great winning tradition to shame its players into more pride in their performance and fear of failure.

There's a casualness of attitude, say close observers, reflected even on the training track. And ultimately, not the sort of emotional clout to prevent the likes of Medhurst from plying their wares elsewhere, inevitably, it seems, more successfully.

Medhurst, for one, hasn't been surprised by the cultural difference between Fremantle and Collingwood.

"There's just this aura about the place. I know it sounds cliched, but there's just so much history," he says. "I'm not (a) footy history buff, but you just can't help but notice being in there, there's just great footballers everywhere.

If any Freo people want to comment, my question is do you think Rohan Connolly has a valid point: that there is a casualness about our players, do they take just being AFL footballers for granted? It would seem with our results, ie making the finals only twice in 14 years, that even from some football writers perspective, one living all the way over in Melbourne, that he is on the money.

Yep.

One of my long term complaints about a lot of Freo players / or all of them is that they don't appear to strive for anything but playing in the league team. It's almost as if they feel that they have made it to AFL, and that's enough, and as long as they stay, that's all they want. Maybe we should stop them being able to pick up or something, until they are actually good or something. Have a white feather campaign or something. I don't know?
