Excellent.
Now the question is who or what can we command for him.
Perhaps bundle with our first pick for a top 5 pick?
Sampi?
Medhurst has talent no doubt about it, and as the main small forward could/should flourish.
His value will be decent.

as rgauci said in the Draft & Trades Board: Medhurst + pick 42 to Brisbane, Spaanderman + pick 25 to Freo

Spaanderman is a 20 year old, 198cm 2 game player who can play in the Ruck, Forward or Defence. WA boy. We could really use him.

I'll pass on Sampi. Pickett would be a decent swap, but I think Chocco would be a little gun shy when it comes to trading with the Dockers.
I would prefer Sampi, Pickett is too old and Sampi is a Freo boy that could step up if he chased harder. Come to think of it, his game is alot like Medhurst's, LAZY! ;)

Whats this dellusion about someone being a Freo boy and therefore better?

I know... everyone all year has been saying how Medders is lazy, selfish, inconsistent, of bad character (sabre leading the chorus) and then people say... lets get Sampi?!?!?!

WTF?

Medhurst has actually attempted to be more of a team player this year and it hasn't worked. Sampi is just a complete and utter waste of talent. He grubbers a few goals against Sydney and suddenly he's back in form and his psych is genius.

With the attitudes of a few of you... you are starting to believe the ****house press we get.

I think we should keep Medhurst. Whats the deal with Freo keeping a player for 3-4 years and then trading them away. Thats exactly at the window when they are likely to make improvement. Crazy!!

Medhurst is and always was > Sampi.

Exactly right. You only have to go back to Clement , Holland , Sinclair who were traded off just as they were reaching the amount of games where they would start to be usefull.

Mate, I agree with you, I was actually refering to the original post that brought up Pickett's name, I just said I prefered Sampi over the two because he has potential and is young (but needs an attitude adjustment). That does not mean I want the trade to happen.

Actually, I too am sick of trading and Freo are all too often looking for the quick fix by getting rid of or recruiting a player (from another club) and it never seems to work out.

If I had it my why we would not do any trading this year, and should work more closely with guys like Medhurst and Polak on their off and onfield issues. Only then we will be able to play better as a TEAM!!!!!!

I'd rather keep Medhurst myself but I don't think it's going to make a huge difference how we go in the next few years either way.

Contrary to popular belief I don't really think Medhurst is the problem, aside from some lax chasing he pretty much does his job by kicking one and setting a couple up. He's not a 3 goal a game forward in the current structure.

He's an easy target. But not one I can really be bothered defending to the hilt, so feel free to rubbish this post.

I'm not a fan or otherwise of Medders.

Whether he stays or not depends upon what we can get for him. Likewise Polly to some extent - although I think he could develop into something pretty special.

Freo needs to make some progress and you have to give quality to get quality unless you have a spoon or near it. Whoever goes we need to make real good use of it!

I would really like Kerr from the weevils; Polly would probbably be worth that (sacrifice I mean) .

You mean like trading for (pre-season that year - we need a bigger profile!) Croad,(pre-season that year - we need some runners!) Headland, (pre-season that year - we need some hardness!) J Carr.

Yep. Lets be completely reactive and just trade away anyone that we've invested resources in. Lets see how many all australians we can trade away. Look at the AA team in the last two years. Freos had heaps of reps. They are just playing for other teams now.

For the sake of the argument, I'd prefer Moody to Spaanderman. All- Australian at U18, and rated as pacey HFF/winger.

You missed my point; I wasnt saying you needed to trade him or Polak but if you do MAKE sure you get value for your money.

Re Kerr, sure I think most ppl would trade Polly for Kerr and another pick. But then thats just wishful thinking.

Unless we can pull off a real good deal I'd be keeping Polly; you just know he'll McPhee us. One year bad year doesnt result in a trade.

Yep. Sorry mate. Just got a bit fired up and re-read your post later and realised that you weren't saying what I first thought.

ablettjnr... why would we trade Medhurst for two potential WAFL players?
