Hopefully he is good for us but that article means squat. Same article comes out every time a player gets a new start. Not sure he’s a goalsneak though. More a small leading forward. Farmer is more a goalsneak type. Medhurst doesn’t read it, crumb and snap from what I’ve seen. Not that I’ve particularly taken much notice in the past.

My thoughts on him up to the trade were that he was one of the players that let reo down on the road. The biggest concern with that article for me is that he doesn’t seem to acknowledge shortcomings or that he was dumped because his performances were not good enough. I hope he realises he needs to considerably increase his work load to avoid the scrap heap.

tarrant being underrated is thru inconsitency though which medhurst has a problem with too, if he can consistently play to the form his career started with then he will be a very good pickup..... i hope he is played like brad johnson at the dogs because he is not a crumber and we have enough crumbers as is, he can crumb but his strength is his leading and marking game. it will take a bit for him to be a just replacement for tarrant in my eyes though but hope he'll be good

Medhurst is as lively as a small forward but plays much taller. He has that inconsistency like all small forwards, but then again when he is on song, he is the best player on the ground, as we see with most. The plus side as mentioned is his ability to be so strong over-head, that he is likely to be in our top 5 next season for contested marks, then again depending on his role.

Good to see him in the news. Hasn't been much on the topic of Medhurst.

MM just has to use that brain of his and create a forward set-up that helps create space for our player. If he manages that, we'll be back to our high-scoring best.

Nice to hear from him...Finally!

he seems to be a small leading forward type, a bit of a poor mans shotgun williams.

dont know how hard the pies negotiated this during the trade week cause i doubt medhurst would haev the same impact as tarrant, but whoever came out of the freo pick might...

Tarrant's career at Collingwood will be forever underrated.
If Medhurst can have a career half as good as Tarrant's I'll be happy.

What his career adveraging less than 1 goal a game from fullforward?

I want a little more than that from medhurst, or any forward for that matter. Tarrent did ok up the ground, but was nothing compared to other fullforwards. Good trade for collingwood

Is it just me or can Medhurst play back pocket?
He is strong, quick and a good mark. we are in desperate need for a small shutdown defender, it may be worth a shot, although you would need to teach him a whole new side of the game. Better than keeping Lonie who is better suited elsewhere and Lockyer who gets abused every now and then.

I don't think Medhurst would have the attitude for it.

Being a backman is 90% mental, and rarely do forwards share the same mental constitution that backmen have that allows them to succeed.

Backmen are often able to go forward with success, but the opposite is rarely true.

he's far too selfish from what i've seen a natural forward

I believe medders will surprise a lot of supporters .He will become a very damaging little forward.Hard to match up on.Plus allows mm to chop and change game plan midstream. He will kick the goals that tarrant use to miss.As his confidence grows so will his ablity around goals. We could have a tall forward line(especially if we can get a ruckman and release josh into the forward line)then if that's not working when diddy and leon come back into the team, throw them into the forward line ie leon, diidy, medhurst rocca, rusling. We have then got a plan b to upset opposition teams which will create havoc.

Saw medhurst in the final home and away game here in the WAFL for Claremont. They played peel thunder and he looked in top shape.Out run the peel player on him in the FP and just looked quicker and sharper than most around him. Kicked 6, but could've had 8-9 if the wind was lighter.

He lost his way over here at purple land, some people just can't settle in perth. Its totally different to Melb footy culture. He will be a top prospect for u guys if he gets his form back at league level. Its just what a player like him needs. Hope he does well for ya's:thumbsu:
