I gave my old man a radio I fixed with a wider am band because he wanted to listen to SENSA but struggles with phone apps & bluetoof, I'm telling ya if it was under 1600 on the dial 5AA would cease to exist because the codgers would be able to tune in on their garbage radios from the reject shop.

Of course it's not the market they want and expect them all to die soon I guess.

Maybe they thought that radio would go the way of tv and be totally digital from a certain date, but uptake of DAB+ has been slower than getting Covid jabbed in WA and Queensland.

Actually SEN (SA) first launched way back in 2005 as SEN 1323 but only lasted a few months before dying due to lack of interest. The 1323 band in SA is now a 'smooth' music station.

Frankly there is bugger all commercial advertising money to be made out of those who use AM radios as their primary listening source in SA and the existing stations like Five AA have that pretty well sown up - and even their ratings are on the nose. A specialist sports station on the AM band in SA is doomed to commercial failure.

From what I've read, the latest incarnation of SEN SA broadcasting a few hours a day under Hutchy's Melbourne based Pacific Star Network/SEN is mainly focussed on getting a younger audience via app based internet radio. The AM bit is seen as just a legacy component for the older audience and they aren't interested in FM or DAB+ as a platform.

Not sure how spectrum is allocated but can only guess that cost considerations and the desire to get people to use their app is the reason why they settled on the low access 1629 frequency for their AM broadcast in SA.

I do not mind Kane Cornes at times. Like most in the media he sometimes gets it right...

So, according to the AFLPA it is OK for an AFLPA member to attend freedom rallies then plaster her opinion all over social media but it is not OK for the media to question her opinion? Kornes is right, if you want your privacy respected stay away from social media.

Their 2 SA based shows are, Breakfast 6-8,30am and Drive 3.30-5.30pm, when majority of their audience are in their cars and the majority aren't likely to be listen to apps, lot easier to flick on the car radio.

This is what shits me about their band. I can't listen to it in the car via my radio because I can't pick it up and they don't have a bloody Android Auto app to make it easy to listen to via my phone. I end up listening to those shows via podcast as a result - and as a result, I don't hear the ad's. Which, if I was advertising on their station, I'd be pretty shitty about. If they would just invest in an Android Auto app, I'd be listening to those ad's.

The thing that shits you is that you don't get to listen to the ads? 🤔

I'm not shitty about it, the advertisers would be shitty about it. What I'm shitty about is that they broadcast on a band that's difficult to pick up and they haven't invested in an Android Auto app that would make it easy to listen to in the car.

AFL website calls Russell Ebert a "Power great".
I don’t know what to make of it. At least, it’s a recognition of our past as one club.

They couldn’t say that he is a “Magpie great” (even though he was), but could have said “a Port great” or a “Maggie great”.

But, then again, our current main nickname is “Power”. So, he is a “Power great”, from when the Power was known as “Magpies”.

Port great would be logical.

Tbh we should just be thankful Mike Sheehan isn't telling us Russell reps the royal blue and white whenever Port play Norf.
