Agree, bit of a mirror on the nation really, look at recent events, but let's not open that can of worms. WC do have a large contingent of grumpy old bogan boomers.
What pleases me is watching the crowd and all the different nationalities completely invested and enjoying the great game.

On another tack, with Freo I feel I should be barracking on another WA side against any Vic side especially. Micheal Walters suggesting this, that WC should get on board and he was sure Freo would do the same? I nearly choked on my pizza.
But the devil in me wants them to choke in the finals.
If they miraculously went through and won the GF, I'd begrudgingly be okay with that after 30 years wandering in the parched desert of irrelevance.
So which Clubs most likely to win the GF, Pies+Cats, Lions+Crows? Every state is represented, it's a pot-boiler!

Bulldogs are the club I can't stand, dirty players in the 90s, I know some arrogant supporters, and they shouldn't be in the AFL (IMHO) since they don't have the supporters and can't afford to be there. They had to change there name to Western (they're on the east coast!). But for some reason they seem to be every other Victorian's second team.

I honestly don't think Freo qualify as a rivalry.

Rivalries are something that happen organically, not just because the powers that be plonk another team in the state and you're forced to play each other twice a year.

Organic rivalries for us are against Essendon, Sydney, Geelong and probably Hawthorn.

The problem with the Derby is that typically when we're up and about Fremantle are shithouse, and vice versa. The only memorable Derby was really only the demolition Derby and it's remembered for the wrong reasons.

I get a strong feeling Walters barracks for WA sides. Has mates at the Eagles and in one game (pre retirement) kept referring to the Eagles as “we/us”.

Yep actually enjoyed his special comments for 7 in the later part of the season, was quite positive toward the eagles even when there wasn’t much to be positive about, big step up from listening to Pavlich.

I won't be barracking for Freo - but my preference is one of 3 flagless teams (GWS, GC, Freo) win the flag - unfortunately, I don't think that's likely anyway. So Crows would be my next pick - it's been a long time.

For me it's:

Adelaide - Now they were never as bad as us, but they do provide a bit of a blueprint on how to rebuild in an 18 team competition with a horribly compromised draft. After 2017 they went 12, 11, 18, 15, 14, 10, 15 and now 1. In no man's land for a lot of that period but still managed to overhaul their list. There wouldn't be too many playing this weekend that played in the 2017 Grand Final.


Brisbane - Despite the academy and father-sons and the priority pick while being better than us, I still love watching them play. And I love Fages.


Gold Coast - Despite the academy and concessions coming outta their arse all while being better than us, they've achieved nothing since forever and now have a chance to knock off Freo


GWS - They're not Victorian but do have Toby. ****ing hell Toby vs Hawthorn’s punchable team is going to be fun to watch


Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn - Just **** 'em all

The real team that is our rival and the one we should hate are the Hawks. Have beaten us in 2 grand finals.

I went to the 2013 grand final and even on my way there I thought i'd be supporting the Hawks but ended up supporting Freo. The one and only time I think since their inception. They ****ed it up, also ****ed up losing to hawks in a home prelim when we would have dominated them in the GF due to their acquired injuries. Since then, zero support for the dockers.

Hawks - No way get out first game finish 8th give us the best picks we can get from here.

Cats - Vic and have had enough this decade

GC - Look you finally made the finals, well done, have a taste, don't be greedy.
Adelaide - Great effort from where they were last year, like their game style and good to watch.
GWS - Get to the mountain a lot and climbed it a bit. Would like them to reach the top finally and see Toby's podium celebration.
