We've already seen what life looks like when these guys aren't there and when they are but are shadows of what they were. And they want out. Our worst contract was probably Gaff who was poor his last couple of years but still played 280 games and retired at 33. McGovern was AA at 32 and was playing well until his concussion. For me it's:

Adelaide - Now they were never as bad as us, but they do provide a bit of a blueprint on how to rebuild in an 18 team competition with a horribly compromised draft. After 2017 they went 12, 11, 18, 15, 14, 10, 15 and now 1. In no man's land for a lot of that period but still managed to overhaul their list. There wouldn't be too many playing this weekend that played in the 2017 Grand Final.


Brisbane - Despite the academy and father-sons and the priority pick while being better than us, I still love watching them play. And I love Fages.


Gold Coast - Despite the academy and concessions coming outta their arse all while being better than us, they've achieved nothing since forever and now have a chance to knock off Freo


GWS - They're not Victorian but do have Toby. ****ing hell Toby vs Hawthorn’s punchable team is going to be fun to watch


Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn - Just **** 'em all

I have always considered Brisbane my second team as they came into the then VFL at the same time as us and from memory they could get 2 players from the existing teams - those teams got to choose who they were.

That's fair, but the fact that he performed well in grand final loss isn't evidence he'd be a good fit for us. I think winning b&f / making all Australian 44 man squad when your teams bottom 4 would be better evidence.

In fact I believe in last year's grand final team he made the all Australian team and this year when they underperformed (and it's not like the team was deplorable) he didn't make the squad.
