Dr Con caught conning Medicare out of $400,000
A Brunswick doctor who was until recently a business partner of controversial biochemist and underworld figure Shane Charter has been ordered by the federal government to repay almost $400,000 that he rorted from Medicare.
Doctor Constantinos Perkoulidis, who practiced at the Brunswick Hill Medical Clinic, was also slapped with a two-year ban from performing more than a dozen medical procedures.
Dr Perkoulidis was also a former director and co-owner of anti-aging business, Integramed Health Services, which is controlled by Shane ''Dr Ageless" Charter – a convicted drug dealer who was a central figure in the Essendon doping scandal.
Despite previous Medicare breaches, Dr Perkoulidis is not expected to be banned by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and is unlikely to face criminal charges.
