Meek, attempting to spoil slightly late causes Lipinski to get subbed off for concussion
Will the MRO double down after Pearce last week, or will they correct course?

Clumsy??If we're punishing the act it's a clumsy hit so probably one down to zero.
Clumsy??
Sidebar...At the risk of victim blaming, I really think that AFL players don't really expect to get pollaxed these days - so they don't brace and prepare for it and protect themselves. There is no way Lipinski would have allowed that incident to result in his head hitting the ground if he expected someone to make him earn it.
That's my point. Putting yourself in that situation is not something you did back in the day - because you expected someone to smash you from behind. And they did.Even if he did expect it, at the time of the impact his arms are up for the ball and his feet are off the ground. There's really not much he could do to protect himself when someone as ... bulky as Meek comes in at top speed
I watched this a couple of times this morning, as I couldn't get past how Lipinski allowed himself to face plant into the turf. It didn't make sense that he didn't protect himself.Doubt Meek directly caused any concussion, and there was no meaningful head-high contact.
Did he get the ball? That should not even be considered. Meek came into spoil and was just fractionally late.
I'm pretty sure Lipinski couldn't have braced or protected himself even if he was expecting it.Clumsy??
It was as blatant a 'make him earn it' act as you'll ever see. There was nothing clumsy about it.
He did precisely what he intended to do.
Made him earn it.
The problem was that even though it was very well executed in the sense that he did in fact hurt him and didn't get him high - his head hit the ground.

OopsHow ?
Lipinski has his arms up to take the mark and Meek hits him in the head, he has no chance to protect himself View attachment 2330098
Remember when Lobb hit Cox in the face while attempting to spoil"and got nothing for it? It was also slightly late.
Haha, 2 months is a long time in football,Tariffs.
That costs 3 weeks now.

MATCH REVIEW: Lobb learns fate for Magpie strike
The match review findings for Friday night's game between Footscray and Collingwood are inwww.afl.com.au
no it didnt. What you miss from that is that Lobb's fist actually did come off the ball before deflecting to the face of Cox
Interesting finding.HAWTHORN ruck Lloyd Meek has escaped suspension for his big hit on Patrick Lipinski in the Hawks' loss to Collingwood on Friday night.
Meek arrived late and crashed into Lipinski, who was about to mark, during the third quarter of Hawthorn's 51-point loss at the MCG.
Lipinski kicked a major from the goalsquare but was then substituted due to concussion.
The Match Review Officer said Meek "made a genuine attempt to spoil the ball, that his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and that he took reasonable care to avoid making forceful high contact to Lipinski in the marking contest".
---
You get the feeling that had there not been an overturned decision very recently then he would have got the standard 3 weeks. Or maybe I'm just being cynical
its in line with the Lobb decision. If lobb had got weeks then meek should get weeks. but neither got weeks for similar acts.HAWTHORN ruck Lloyd Meek has escaped suspension for his big hit on Patrick Lipinski in the Hawks' loss to Collingwood on Friday night.

it was a fraction of a second late. look at the time stamp on the replay.Interesting finding.
Whilst I agree he took reasonable care to avoid forceful high contact - he clearly did his best to ensure he did make forceful body contact. And it was the forceful body contact that ultimately caused a concussion.
Given it was late, it's not a stretch to argue that it wasn't reasonable at all
Yeah, agree. But it was 'officially' late.it was a fraction of a second late. look at the time stamp on the replay.
