LOL you've got no idea mate. Probably should have just said I like Megadeth more without giving all the wrong reasons. Don't worry 'out bogan-ing' your mates is cool too.
Judas Priest > Michael Angelo Batio.

Metallica for me.
Big difference between a bogan and a metal head, my point still stands that Metallica have a lot more fans (period) who would not be classed as true metal listeners. Mate.
Metallica have not produced a decent album in years, take your Metallica rose coloured glasses off. Some Kind of Monster proved that not only are they a bunch of spoilt men acting like teenage pansies, they have no direction or idea on what they are trying to do. At least you could see they had a direction and song writing purpose when they did the Black album, that was obvious in the Year In a Life doco's.
The best thing Nu Metal did was die and re introduce metal bands who are masters of their craft not just a bunch of guitars tuned down low and hats backwards (not saying Metallica are Nu Metal just that the scene became again about musicianship not image and clothing brands after it). Compared to the standard of the best metal acts of the moment Metallica's new albums are not even anywhere near that level. They sell records on name and reputation. Megadeth are still producing albums that are at least in the same ball park as the great modern day albums.
Yes Metallica's first four albums are classics and yes the helped pioneer American Metal in the 80's, but so did Megadeth. People like to talk about Metallica in the early days but most forget to mention Dave was their in the early days when they were tearing San Fransico up and Dave wrote half of Kill 'Em All.
No matter how people like to pretend differently Lars is not a good drummer. Very easy to cover an early Metallica song, not so easy to cover a early Megadeth one. Not saying songs have to be hard to be good, however they have to be good to be good. Please tell me what is impressive about Metallica's last two albums? And answer me honestly would you have listened to either for more than a minute had it not been Metallica who made them?
Yes I have always like Megadeth more; however they were my two favourite bands as a kid. I still buy Megadeth albums and haven't bought a Metallica one in years and that's simply because Metallica haven't made an album IMO worth buying in years. For that fact I feel Megadeth are the better band of the two.
It is a pity most people don't like Dave and hate his singing because the guy can seriously write a song. I admit I am harder on Metallica than need be, and that's becasue of two reasons.
1. The dissapointment of their last few records.
2. I hated the fact that for years so many Metallica fans would just write off Megadeth without really having a reson why. They just did it because Megadeth aren't Metallica and apparently Metallica rules.
The real shame here is what kind of band would have Metallica been had they not gotten rid of Dave.

His reasons are prefectly valid. The majority of my friends aren't in to metal, but they still like Metallica. A Metallica crowd these days is not your typical metal crowd. Metallica are far more accessible than Megadeth.
What is so wrong with his thoughts? What is wrong with liking talented musicians? Talent is an important quality for a band, one would think. That's why I have infinite respect for Dream Theater, masters of their instruments. I'm more of a thrash man so I like Megadeth the most due to their relative technical prowess and speed over other bands..
Cheers, glad someone gets it. To make myself clear a song doesn't have to be complicated to be good. But it needs sections that make you go "**** that was sweet." For example I love Hatebreed and their guitar riffs for the most part are easy to play, but they sound heavy and brutal and make you stand up and listen. Love Seasick Steve his music is as uncomplicated as it gets, but **** does he write songs that make you want to listen.
The great thing about metal is that it is an elite brand of music and the best at it are great musicians. I have no problems with the DIY method to music but thats a punk formula not a metal one.
