AA is done on reputation and if you're going to get picked as a second year you either have to be raking in the disposals like Oliver or have a high goal tally like Wingard or Cameron. Petracca arguably is impacting games as much as any of these three because he's doing it all over the ground, but he doesn't have that one impressive stat to grab the headlines

Given that the likes Cameron Ling and Luke Darcy were AA selectors last year, you can pretty much guarantee that it will be purely based on media hype.
Which means Oliver is actually a legitimate shot.

That's an interesting thought. I guess when we are trying to guess at the AA team, we do it on a basis of season's worth of work - and also trying to remove our own bias towards our own club. But you might be right, Luke Darcy in particular is hardly a scholarly type - he's a froth and bubble type who likes to be on the trends. If one of our guys has a smashing end to the season, Darcy might very well go with that over whatever else they did. Not sure if Lingy is the same. With Oliver, he's played well all year so far, but he'll have to play just as well in the last 5 games.
