Ok so me and a few mates are off to Melbourne this weekend and I've just been informed by my idiot mate that someone has double booked us at the hotel we were supposedly staying at so we are now on the hunt for last minute accom.

Question: Why the **** is all accommodation in Melbourne basically sold out?? I've been searching for the past hour and nothing is free. Any know of any hotel that actually has rooms?!

THX!

Geeze, I thought you would have had to be exaggerating there, but after checking wotif.com (which is usually really good), i found basically nothing, you're right everything is booked. Unless you wanna shell out $500 on a room....

It's crazy, you think the middle of winter more rooms would be free. We're going away to Apollo Bay this weekend- had looked up Lorne too but everything down there was booked. Sif I care anyway Apollo Bay -daylight- >>> Lorne.

Good luck. Do you know anyone with an Entertainment Book? They might be able to help you with accommodation.

Bledisloe Cup sat night at Etihad.

It will be Kiwiland over here on the weekend!

Lol, well there you go.. did not even know that was on. :D

Good luck Fryingpan!!! If you dont get a room, maybe we could recommend a good gutter. :D

I stayed at this little place on Little Bourke Street when I was there for Anzac weekend. Really cheap, and might have some rooms free. Can't remember the name, but just type 'little bourke street hotels' into Google and something should come up.:thumbsu:

Staying at Citadines on Bourke street not this weekend but the next. From what I have gathered it only opened on the 1st if July (Not to the knowledge of myself and mates when booking) which is probably why we got such cheap rates. Anyone stayed there yet, or know anything about it. Location looks tops.

I stayed there before it opened as a trial.

The location is great Bourke between Russell and exhibition so close to everything. If you are going to the footy its an easy walk to the MCG and you could catch the Bourke street tram to Etihad ( or its a 20 min walk straigh down Bourke street).

Its apartment style, and of course everything is brand new. They have a pool and a Gym adaquate but not outstanding the pool is indoors and is okay for a dip.

The 2 bedroom apartments are quite big - the one bedrooms are average size but are fine for just a couple of nights. No restaurant on site yet - this is coming in September but you are literally are a block in any direction from about 50 restaurants and cafes. That end of bourke street as a great range of bars as well.

You have chosen well.:thumbsu:

Oh the ****ing Bledisloe!

I've made a tentative booking at Quest Kew .. lol. Apparently it's only 6km from the CBD .. I have family and friends over there but the people I'm going with want to stay in a hotel which is making it frustrating - failing this I will take the risk and go to lastminute.com :o

Quest Kew is a typical quest so will be nice but make no mistake you are in the burbs - allow 30 mins min to get to the city by public transport.
