Melbourne Board Draft Game

Great idea though we would probably need some emergencies if we do that. We have a 48 hour trade period and following that we delist who we dont want to come up with our final 22. How does that sound

Gah, I wanted Williams, oh well.
My plan was to draft best availale, which ended up being a lot of midfielders early on, I then decided that having a gun midfield will have to do as my KP is a little bit...
Anyway I decided that I should make the depth in my midfield equal to or better than other teams starting midfields, so as to have some chance against their KP's.
I had 3 midfielders lined up for this pick, all who play different types of games, Nathan Foley was picked, which leaves me with a choice of two.
I figure I have enough 'x-factor' players, but that I only really have two 'clearance' players in Bartel and Mclean.
Therefore with this pick I've decided to take another player who can find a fair bit of the ball.
Marc Murphy.

Like Beats I think that my team is going to be centred around a star studded midfield (mine is better btw, even without a ruckman). Forwards can't kick goals unless they are getting some good supply of the football. I already have the best ball winners in the game in Judd, Mitchell and Kerr so I will go with someone who can play the reciever role.

My pick is Nick Dal Santo

I guess we'll have to let others decide that, Because basing it on this years form, only Mitchell would be better than any one of my midfielders and once ling tags Kerr out of the game it leaves Bartel up against Judd, Deledio vs. Burgoyne on a wing where Deledio would tear up Burgoyne, and Dal Santo vs. Griffen.
Not having a decent ruckman will hurt you, as Cox is better than whichever ruckman you choose, and will hurt with his link up ability, and Hale will most likely be better than your first ruckman too

Ah you boys got me, I was tossing up between DalSanto, Williams and Murphy. I thought I would go the forward option first and hope one of the others would slip through to the next round. Pricks :)

All the midfields are good. *uc*ed if I know how I am going to split them. We are looking at basically the top 30-40 midfielders in the AFL. I went a different route and picked midfielders who play 2-3 positions. More of a Geelong type midfield with 8-12 blokes going through there. Most likely back fire but thought a good spine was more important.

However since it seems lads that the sales pitches of our sides are beginning ;) :D I think Goodwin, Goodes, Lewis, Foley, Porplezyia, Enright, Didak, Chapman and Ottens plus who ever else is left would be hard to stop over 4 quarters :p

You can't seriously believe that Ling and Bartel is in the same league as Judd and Kerr.

The only mid better than Judd is Ablett, but you can't be serious in saying that Kerr is better than Bartel.
Basing it on this years form Bartel + Ling >>>>> Judd + Kerr

Let's compare midfield's once this is over, then we can see who's being serious or not :p

So did I :p
Richardson, Deledio, Griffen, Bartel, Ling and Hale can all chip in for a goal and Cox, Mclean and Murphy are all excellent at their primary roles in dishing the ball out to these players :D

Pick 100 - My hardest pick yet.

Im going 2 demon players in a row- Aaron Davey.

Imagine Aaron Davey in a team like this... i'm salivating at the thought.

Pick 101 - Cameron Bruce (Melbourne)

Versatile player. Can play at both ends of the ground or in the midfield.

Tough choice for me here.
I still need firepower due to my lack of proper KPF and HFF/FP's are the most in-demand type of player left, which leads me to take one as there are not a whole lot left already.
The player I'm going to choose managed 49 goals for the year to make him the 5th highest goal scorer among small forwards.
He also has the ability to rotate through the midfield when needed to and he's a past brownlow medallist to boot.
Jason Akermanis.

Pick 103- I'm going to go for a player I rate quite highly and I didn't expect to be around this long.
B.Ebert (P.A)

Ok getting hard now. Have a list of about 6-8 blokes I could take with these picks but have decided to add more grunt and defensive pressure into my team as it will have no problem scoring

Cyril Rioli- Need a small forward who can apply defensive pressure and this boy is an absolute gun. Was weighing up going for a third tall but both Ottens and Goodes can play that roll and have plenty of players who play big such as Chapman, Goodwin and Porplezyia. Can win the ball up the ground as well and has that X factor which is always a bonus. Will become a gun midfielder long term I think

Mark McVeigh- Falls into the category of "suprised he is still here". Essendons best player this year IMO and a clear leader of that club. Can go into the middle with great effect but also one of the best mid sized defenders in the AFL. Think he is a steal this late. Gives my side a bit more balls which is good

With the emergency / trading idea, I like the concept of it, however I think it should be 2 or 4 emergencies, as 3 means that it will be unfair as CaptainDavey will have better pick than Bails2008 etc

Far out, mate. I specifically told you not to take my player. So what do you do? Take bloody Rioli.

Hmm, my defense is good defensively with excellent stoppers in Harley and Bolton, Fletcher goes alright too, however it does not really have a creative attacking side.
A running HBF with a nice long kick and the ability to play through the midfield will come in handy.
