Anyone who decides to say that they've backed the winner here with no previous mention of it on the board will be given a week holiday

$91 on pointsbet not terrible -ex Aiden who won one of the main Derby lead ups (at 6/4 fave) then not seen since failing in the Derby - supposed to be in the Voltigeur next week but has been pulled.

Very poor in the Derby. Needs to do a Rekindling to come back from a belting like that in the Derby and win the Cup. He’s got a bit to do to get enough weight to get into the field, and the 2 races they’ve mentioned are unlikely to be enough. Add to that the uncertainty of whether they go to Melbourne or Sydney and he’s a pass for me at that price.

Nah - wins either of those and he will get a Tiger Moth style penalty to get into the field and be sub $20 - he is only rated 2 pounds below Sir Lucan last year despite doing absolutely nothing - at 90s its worth a few sheckels.

That price is gone but more interesting is some of the horses PointsBet have in its Melbourne Cup market. Few non nominated horses are in the market

Just lazy pricks who haven't updated their list since noms came out

Flemington Sportsbet is another bookie with an incorrect list on its Melbourne Cup odds page which is disappointing for what was a quality bookie.

Zechariah (3yo) and Raise Up (6yo - Joseph) won last night - Raise Up is going to need a ratings bump given his age and doubt he is up to it as a fully exposed 6yo.

The 3yo won nicely from up on the pace which is a positive.

I’ve heard that El Bodegon and Grand Alliance are very unlikely to head to the Cup this year, but I guess that could change if they run well tonight. El Bodegon looks a wet tracker best suited to Sydney.

Yeah El B coming through the french slowy form is a hard pass even if he runs well tonight

Have heard the same thing RE El Bodegon being more a Sydney horse but he will be coming down here with DL so still every chance they try to aim him up at one of the big races particular if he runs well

Couldn't win down here if it started today - instant pen job.

Clear number 1 seed and likely best NH 3yo we have had come out here

Cross Counter would be the only challenger. Was 4 pounds higher heading into the GV and had the St Leger winner behind him there (reckon DL beat mostly walkers last night outside the fave)

It’s his race to lose.
