Melbourne Cup

The spring racing carnival is quickly approaching. I was just wondering what everyone does on Melbourne Cup day? At present I am trying to work out what luncheon I am going to go to. I think it is a great day to have off from work, drink heaps of champagne and bet on a few horses.

I have to go to work as I am on a Federal Award. I hate having to work on Cup Day as it is one of my favourite days of the year.

It's a work day in Sydney. But we'll close down the office for about an hour or so, draw the sweep and watch the race. If I'm still in my current job (hope not) I'll probably be given the job of running the sweep again this year.

I use to run the sweep up until year 12, when exams were over this period.

my mum and i share a bet, she puts the money down i pick the horse then we watch it win every year(almost) on the tv while we laugh at my gambler father who is at the TAB all day and night and can never take a trick on Melbourne cup day.

Could be cancelled. It's already a heavy 9 apparently. Rain just stopped and slowed then but you're only another heavy fall and two races away from it being ****ed. Flooding in the tunnel the horses use to enter the track, people can't use the trains around here. Unreal.

Nah, he sent me a copy of the bet. I didn’t ask him to do it this year actually. I just mentioned the couple of horses I thought and he backed them.
