I'm not an animal libber and will accept that animals have to die so I can eat a steak, and thats just a utilitarian judgment we make about killing for food, but do we really need to kill for entertainment?

People in the industry always come in with 'oh they love to race' 'they're born for it' blah blah blah but they're kidding themselves. They're terrorising horses around a track by hitting them with a stick in a way which is so dangerous that they risk catastrophic injury and an agonising death. For money. Just because Bruce mcavaney likes to masturbate to it doesn't make it right.

Horses love to race just as much as African Americans enjoyed being slaves, women enjoyed having no voting rights etc etc.

I hate horse racing, but I hate the gambling culture it promotes and normalises even more. To me, that's the problem with Melbourne Cup.
