Level two at Etihad is the best place to watch footy full stop. I hate level one you feel so far away from it all
Yep, every seat's a cracker on level 2. To be fair, level 2 at the G is awesome too.

Just shut the bloody roof though

I was at the game and yes, level two, especially on the wing, is probably the best seat at any ground in Australia.

The funniest thing was in the last quarter when this old, bitter Melbourne supporter turned me to said,"So, are you guys happy to limp into the finals are ya?"

To which I replied: "Limp? We have won nine of our last 11 games and only lost to Collingwood and St Kilda who played in last year's grand final."

He then mumbled something along the lines about St Kilda being average and we would go out in straight sets. I started laughing and said: "At least we are playing finals and considering when you last won a premiership cars hadn't been invented who are you to comment on anything?".

No response.

it was the first game i've made it to this year.

for a lot of the afternoon it was like sitting in a 40,000 seat library.

the eagles fans gave them a great send-off after the siren. it was great to see coxy and a couple of other senior players come all the way across the ground to acknowledge the fans, even though they were nearly off the ground. classy stuff.

Dees was my first game ever in Melbourne too. Picked it as a easy win before the season began. All I have to say is

Victorian WCE fans >>>>> W.A WCE fans. Alot better atmosphere. Alot louder and alot more intelligent to it seems from first glance. I wish all the old nuff nuffs would leave Subiaco so we could bring in a crowd like the ones Victoria gets.

Probably helped that they shut level 3 off. All the outliers that usually sit up there (myself included) had to sit down on level 1, so we got to be nice and loud together. Atmosphere was pretty good but I hate level 1 so back to level 3 for me.

na mate - ive found the same thing when i do footy trips to melbourne - so many people fly over etc for the game and they are passionate - as opposed to the old farts i see at subi who golf clap

i was so impressed on the weekend with the roar coming from so few throats in comparison to subi - watch the replay then look at the numbers before calling b/s on that

It might be connected to the fact that we're a different breed of Eagles fan over here. Not better -- just different. Like the media over here don't worship the Eagles and we are in no way the majority. So we have to roar just to be heard. And simply walking around minding your own business, but with a blue and yellow scarf on, is still going to get you a lot of looks.

Yeah I'm with you on the looks. I wear my Eagles stuff to uni every now and then and I always get a few strange looks.

Lived in Melbourne from 1990 to 1999 from the age of 7 to 16. Went to all the eagles games to watch us take on Plugger and the Saints at Waverly, Piggy Dunstal and the Hawks. Gary Snr and the Cats at the G', Wayne and the Kangas, Gary and the Dees etc etc. Great era. We got a little more than strange looks though....there were only a handful of us and there was a lot of hostility.

I remember sitting in level 2 at the G and being spat on by Tigers fans in the level above...charming. Constant abuse and if we lost a tight one LOOK OUT on the train home!

Being at the Dome on Saturday was great. Blue and Yellow everywhere! The EAAAGLEEES chant at the end, a bit of SHOOOOO whenever the great man got the ball. YOu had an idea of just how many of us there were at the end when only eagle fans were left. Spread right round the ground and a couple of really large banks. You could tell the boys really appreciated it and we are building together again to achieve yet more greatness for this wonderful club.

I'm wearing an Eagles jacket at work today and have had lots of comments...

Did anyone on here go the Geelong game in '06 when we came back from 50 odd down to win. Would have been an interesting train ride back into the city.

I was thinking about that during the game on Sunday, sitting there with my original 1987 scarf (looking very tattered now). It's really good to see so many other Eagles fans at Melbourne games. Don't see many people wearing the original scarf design, though.

I remember my original 87 scarf, went to a game in 1990 at the WACA (I was 9 at the time), and some drunk bloke bought it off me for $50. I think it is probably dead now..

The crowd was great on Sunday, I love going to the Melbourne games, because we are away from a lot of the "quiet" members that go to the Subi games it is often more vocal and carefree because we are the minority.

Definitely shoo chants, I too was part of that, and it's great to have something attached to a player! He's a jet.

They were silent all day unless it was a call they didn't agree with. So........ "Naita! Naita! Naita! Geez Naita looks good today. What a goal by Naita!!!! Hardly any key forwards can do that. Naita!!!! look at that tap work, straight down their throats. How he didn't go number one is beyond me" and so on and so forth.....all......day.....long. Dees supporters hope you enjoyed watching the Game with me as much as i did with you. That's for trying to steal P. Matera.

Yup. But friend drove. If he didn't, i may have left half way through the third and missed it. Wasn't many of us there that day but it was a full house. The walk out of Skilled was interesting enough. The calls for Bomber's head could be heard a thousand miles away. Funny that. :D But brilliant stuff. This is the game in my opinion that made them believe they deserved the cup. The week after against Carlton was just an extension of this game in some ways.

Nope, but I've been to a game at the 'G that Collingwood led all day and we snatched by 1 point with the last kick. Standing on the platform at Jolimont Station after the game -- me and about 1000 grumpy Pies fans -- was a nervous experience. :D

What a load of self righteous wank.

You guys are pretty quiet in other games where we weren't going so flash too. Facts are the first half we played pretty badly, Essendon was hanging with us and there wasn't that much to get excited about. The Waters hit woke us up and the crowd was rocking after that.

Not knocking you Melbourne based guys - I love hearing and seeing the support. But you trying to go one-up on Perth based supporters just doesn't sit right. We all support the team just as much as the next person.

I've traveled to games in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne - and it was in Brisbane where i found the supporters to be the most vocal. Maybe that just had something to do with *shock horror* the way the eagles played. Does than mean Brisbane eagles supporters are better than Melbourne ones?

It's not that we're better. In fact I've already clearly stated that. And we're not knocking WA based supporters. But it is a fact that Melbourne based Eagles supporters have copped a lot more shit over the years. Not that we're complaining. And we're starting to like Etihad. Home away from home.

Yeah completely agree with this. It was just the commentary team bringing it up so they could have something to talk about.
