2021 TRADE AND DRAFT WRAP
"Best young list in AFLTM"

ALL INS AND OUTS
TRADED IN - Bianco, Howe, Aish, Clark, Bryan, Koschitzke, Hogan, West, Lipinski, Moyle, Hollands, Pearce, Baldwin, Warner, Brander, O'Brien, Martyn, Callaghan, Knevitt, Soligo, Banks, Owens, Jackson

TRADED OUT - Phillips, Boak, Idun, O'Connor, Campbell, O'Halloran, Nash, Redman, Daniher, Riccardi, Dumont, Frampton, Newnes, Jordon, Rampe, Reid

TRADE PERIOD WRAP
"The aim was to shed salary, bring in youth and draft picks with a focus on bolstering the midfield. As a club, we felt we were able to obtain some excellent young talent on long/cheap deals giving us flexibility. High draft selections were collected with 2 first round and 3 second rounders being held by the club going into the draft. While it was disappointing to have to lose some of out 2020 draft class and players with immediate scoring potential, we still feel with a healthy list to choose from in 2022 we can make a climb up the ladder"

DRAFT PERIOD WRAP
Pick 3 - Finn Callaghan
"Traded back from 2 to 3 with Finn in mind. Excellent to grab the Bontempelli clone who could be anything moving moving and will be a welcome addition to the MELBOURNE GIANTS wing for round 1. We will be looking to extend him in the 2022 off season."

Pick 16 - Mitch Knevitt
"Geelong local taken by Geelong, Mitch was the best available midfielder on the board on this pick and was selected with that criteria in mind. His speed, size and power will allow him to play straight away for Geelong and will drive our young midfield forward in AFLTM along with Callaghan, Sparrow, Warner, Newcombe and co."

Pick 17 - Jake Soligo
"The Eastern Ranges BNF winner was always the target with this selection, as Ogilvie said "He can just play footy". After playing for Richmond VFL and dominating the NAB league, he looks to be a selection who can feature in 2022 with a Erol Gulden like scoring potential early on in the piece"

Pick 29 - Sam Banks
"The only Tasmainian drafted, Sam is a talent and athletic HB/winger who has been drafted to replace Houli in the Richmond side. Simply was best available at this pick and added mix to our draft class."

Pick 30 - Mitchito Owens
"After Arlo Draper was off the board, the Melbourne Giants turned their attention to St Kilda Next Gen member who was expected to be a top 20 pick. Mitchito has unknown potential and given his mix of athleticism and size, he could end up being the steal of the draft as midfielder of the future."

Pick 53 - Hugh Jackson
"The North Adelaide ball winner was selected at pick 53. Hugh dominated SANFL u18s as an inside mid and was in the mix for our pick 30. He may not play early, however what he can bring in the long term for Port with his footskills and decision making makes him worth a punt at this selection"

Pick 2 (Rookie Draft) - Sam Durham
"After being selected mid season by Essendon, Sam played across the back end of the season including in their losing final. As an athletic winger, Sam has scope to become a high fantasy scorer and we were delighted to add him to our rookie list."

2022 PRESEASON DRAFT WRAP
Pick 1 (Supplementary Selection Draft) - Jack Hayes
"Very happy to have the first pick in this draft and being able to add Jack Hayes. Looking at our list, Witts and Hogan have injury clouds heading into round 1 and we felt we needed to stock up in the ruck/forward area with Jack being the best available. Given his resume he looks to be a long term prospect for the club."

Pick 12 (Preseason Competition Draft) - Jordan Boyd
"We were stoked to add Jordan to our list. Although we have plenty of half backs, we felt Jordan was the best available on talent and he was our 2nd option for pick 1 however took Jack due to the positional need. Boyd may debut round 1 for Carlton and looks to have plenty of upside moving forward."

2022 SEASON WRAP
Final Placing - 7th

"After being tipped to finish last in the preseason, it was excellent to make finals with this young and exciting list to prove the doubters wrong. We will look to continue to hit the draft but also bring in proven scorers to continue our push up the ladder."

2022 AWARDS
Best and Fairest Winner - Will Brodie

NEW CAPTAIN ANNOUNCED
The club is pleased to announce Callum Wilkie will be the new captain as the Melbourne GIANTS with Jarrod Witts stepping down.

TRADE AND DRAFT WRAP
"Incredible trade period at the club, bringing in high end talent in Smith, Berry, Amon and Hopper along with KPP/ruck depth in Soldo, Corbett and Teakle. We then went on to max out the rookie list with depth to attack season 2023. Although we felt our 2022 season finals berth was ahead of time, we have added proven scorers along with 3 top 13 draft picks to hopefully jump up the ladder in 2023 and have sustain success given our drafting over the past few years. Hopefully fightingfury_88 doesn't tip us to come last again in season 2023."

DRAFT
Pick 4 Jhye Clark - "Traded back to pick 1 from pick 4 with 3 players in mind (Ashcroft, Wardlaw, Clark). Due to this we were wrapped to select Jhye, we believe he will be a long term 100+ midfielder given he is touted as the next Joel Selwood"

Pick 12 Jaspa Fletcher - "Looking for the best available mid at this pick. With Hollands and Fletcher to choose from we looked to add the class of Fletcher to our mix. May not play in 2023 but has a long term future at our club."

Pick 13 Harry Rowston - "Traded up from 17 (+19 for 13 and 30) to draft Harry as we didn't think the Allies MVP would make it to 17. Talented footballer and dominant U18, Harry will have a long future at the Giants and is viewed as a safe selection"

Pick 30 Billy Dowling - "Crows were wrapped to get him at 44 and we were stoked to trade back from 19 to 30 to snag Billy. Given he went at pick 44 we thought he would still be there at 30 and we were wrapped to get the mid with the most impressive numbers in the draft."

Rookie Pick 8 Corey Wagner - "Looked for instant impact with this selection and Wagner was the man to stand out. Given his AFL experience and the lack of depth at Freo we feel he is ready to go, proven by his 2nd in their 2km time trial."
