Now i know he's not playing for us, but a team that includes the Fev would look like as follows:

FB: Garland Frawley Tapscott
HB: Davey Rivers Grimes
C: Jones Moloney Scully
HF: Green Watts Sylvia
FF: Jurrah Fevola Wonna
Foll: Jamar McKenzie Trengove
Int: Martin Blease Petterd Bail

Suddenly a forward line that looked limp looks capable of kicking a cricket score... With Fev taking the number 1 defender everyone in that forward six is capable of kicking a bag.

FB: Garland Frawley Tapscott
HB: Blease Grimes Bennell
C: Jones Trengove Morton
HF: Scully Watts Sylvia
FF: Jurrah Fevola/Martin Petterd
Foll: Jamar McKenzie Moloney
Int: Martin/Cook Howe Gysberts Bail

Dunn, Green, Bartram, Bate, Rivers, MacDonald, Strauss, McDonald, Evans and Nicholson pending a few things.

Fingers crossed Maric pulls out another big preseason.

Good, promising side is good and promising.

Incredibly talented spine though in Frawley, Grimes, Trengove, Watts and Fevola/Cook. Rucks in Jamar, Martin, Gawn and Fitz with Scully, McKenzie, Gysberts, etc on the ball.

You know who we should have? Luke Ball. Weak as piss by Melbourne again, they can never get anything right.

Ball would be perfect but to be fair, he came with some injury risk at the time. He also didn't want to play for us, and we got Gysberts and Tapscott instead.

Any strong body between 23-26 years old in the midfield - who is solid in the one percenters would be helpful but I don't know of anyone available. Perhaps we could look to the SANFL with a later pick?

Tuck is not the answer Rude - the guy turns 31 next year.

He's past it.

So now he's not a spud, he's just old.

Still pumping out the clearances at the same rate as always, hasnt had any injuries of significance. Complete team man.

And he turns 31 in December next year, after the season has ended. Not like his style of play rely's on young legs anyway, he's a pure grunt player.

Tuck would be more use to our side than Davey. Easily.

C: Trengove - McKenzie - Grimes
HF: Sylvia - Watts - Petterd
F: Howe - Martin - Tapscott
R: Jamar - Moloney - Scully

We won't take Tuck, even though your reasoning is good mate. He is too old for the club to take and we would look like huge hypocrites if we took Tuck after moving Junior on before his time.

I don't rate him - I stand by that. Plus he is too old, I agree with offering some support and relief for our young miss - but we can do better than Tuck in my humble opinion.

Anyway tell us more about you preferring Tuck to Davey?..

I think we have to at some stage look for shorter term fixes. This pie in the sky premiership team in 5 years is starting to annoy me.

I find it hard to believe that our kids are going to carry us to a premiership without more help from senior players. We don't have a proper balance at all.

I don't know about Tuck though, I think he'll stay at Richmond. What about his brother? How is he going at Werribee?

Imagine having Tuck, Fevola and Lovett in the one team? I'm not sure if we'll win too many games but Mad Monday will be awesome.

The comment about a pie in the sky premiership team in in 5 years might have some merit. If you look at some of the MFC teams posted here, can we honestly say even in 5 years this is a premiership team/group? Other teams aren't going to stand still waiting for MFC to take the cup...Richmond, North and even C'wood are also developing youngsters...also C'wood will continue to throw money at out of contract champions. In another thread it was mentioned that you can still develop a team while you win games...we seem to think that while we continue to lose games with this list a flag is waiting for us in 5 years. Maybe some short -term thinking would help..by the way would pass on Tuck & Lovett but Fevola might be worth a chance.

I'd have anyone ahead of Davey. He has the worst attitude I have seen from an AFL footballer, it would make Fevola blush. If he can't consistantly receive the ball he is a massive burden to the club.

Wow, here goes nothing for the uneducated/blind:

Clearances, clearances and clearances. We are shitful at clearances. We have an All Australian ruckman and get smashed most weeks, if Moloney went down it would be scary how bad we would be.

Soft, front running, hangouts who cant find their own ball we have a plethora of.

Obvious answer is obvious

Whats the latest on Wonna ?.....Is he a certain starter in 2012? Would be great to see him in 2012 fully fit and raring to go. So far, we have only seen about 10 per cent of what he is capable of.

No need for insults Rude - we are on the same team here.

My opinion is that we are well positioned for inside mids moving forward - we just have to be patient and understand that we'll lose a few games whilst they develop. Sylvia, Grimes, Gysberts, Moloney, McKenzie, Scully, Jones, Trengove & Viney will win plenty of their own ball when they are all 25 - 27 years old.

We need more outside ball carriers with pace such as Davey and Blease.

Keeping Junior would have been smart (in hindsight) but moving forward I dont think these young bodies need protection anymore - they are ready to be thrown in the deep end next year. We might lose a few games, but we have to play them. Tuck wont be of any use in my opinion - even a very good inside mid wouldnt be a smart pick if he's older than 28.

Our outside players are going to look average whilst we are developing our young mids - just as our few senior players will wear a lot of heat.

Patience and smarts - not short term fixes.

I hear that, and agree, but I also understand that if someone can come in and give us a bit of short term success and belief, it might help in the long term. Whoever we do bring in, if we were to bring someone in, needs to bring stacks of leadership with them, to help teach the youngsters how to go about it.

But, like I said, I'd prefer to be patient.

Alot of people look at decisions in the sense of if there are no obvious results, there arent any at all... I here what rude is saying, and i raise him a Fevola as well, Tuck might not be in our next premiership side, and he may only be a short term fix, however when you look at our young mids you must ask this

Who is teaching our young mids there trade? Yes They will all get progressively better, but dont underestimate the influence of being able to see someone do something week in week out in front of them... Tuck is a clearance master, and its gotta be no coincedence that Richmond have become one of the better clearance sides in the AFL.. They had ( Tuck, Cousins to learn from)

The players would get the chance to watch Tucks movements, his positioning, the way he manouvers his opponent etc and pick up little things, i believe this is why alot of our 20-25 yr old players have stalled, who are they learning there craft off? Is Brad Green teaching LJ, Dunn, Bate etc how to be Key Forwards? Apart from Moloney who gets silver service from Jamar, who are Trenners, Jones, McKenzie etc learning Clearance work from??

And to be clear, im talking about IN match conditions

Gonna have another crack at this. By mid 2012 I would think this will be the best team to take us forward and win games

B - Garland Frawley Tapscott

B - Grimes T.McDonald Bail

C - Gysberts Trengove Blease

HF - Petterd Watts Sylvia

F - Jurrah Howe Woneamirri

R - Jamar Scully Moloney

IC - Jones Martin McKenzie Davey

Emer - Jetta Bennell Fitzpatrick

I thionk people fporget how good Wonna is and how good he can be. Hes the perfect crumbing forward, so lets pray he has a big preseason and gets through unscathed.

Fair opinion to you NG69 - perhaps I underestimate the influence of good senior players on this group, but I just feel our picks are better used on young talent now - our existing group are ready to go forth on their own imo.
