A captain with a bit of a hard edge. Would be nice if he bowled himself more than 1 over though.

Not saying he’d leave but could do worse than offer Watson a fair contract. Would be perfect and would allow them to target another few solid players. Jordan Silk could be a target.

Haven't watched the last two games but going off what I've heard
Get rid of Micky Beer, controversial but move him on
Also KP will retire from what I hear, move Wright on, been a good servant but it's time he goes
Faulkner may be in good form but he takes up cap space goodbye
And finally there will be suitors for Scott Boland so bye bye

Botha, Very Good International Bowler, Bird and someone like ABD/MS Dohni

Bird? Been there, useless, no thanks, besides we don't really need another player who will spend half the tournament carrying the drinks for Australia

Botha? lol

The problem is there is nothing wrong with the batting lineup, it just isn't firing. The biggest gap is a decent no7 who can hit some quick runs, should try and steal Bravo.

Bowling is the real issue, Zampa and Beer are alright, but need 2 good quicks and that decent all rounder. Also for Stoinis to stop thinking he is Mitchell Starc and bowling short s**t....

You feel it’s a matter of time with that batting lineup. Not so far.

I guess both internationals are past their best and Dunk has been surprisingly poor.

Agree with those that Stoinis should be given more opportunity

People may laugh at this but I reckon they should sign Johan Botha to captain. This is the last year of his contract at the Sixers and I think he can bring something that the Stars are lacking.
Would be a really smart move. Wright should be captain of the current side and he shouldn't be moved on at all IMO

Beer has been great this season despite a poor match tonight which was pretty standard across the board. Took 2/21 in the first game and 1/14 in the second match. Very handy T/20 bowler.

Yeah you'd be downright stupid to move on Beer, he's still of high quality.

Dunno what it is with the Stars, plenty of quality in their line up and a successful & experienced coach at the helm but it's just not gelling. Honestly, I do feel that part of their failings have got to do with Pietersen half-in-half-out approach being able to have his cake and eat it too with his very flexible travel schedule, commentary and media work. More power to him for being able to negotiate a deal so awesome on a personal level, but for team success I don't think it's a good thing paying a premium for him.

Was thinking the Stars would benefit from signing another international for the first 2 weeks until after KP comes back, might stop this usual slow start. Find a limited overs specialist playing in the upcoming ODI series

What's Morgan doing these days?

Someone like Alex Hales?

Hasn't he been awful in the BBL before though? Eoin Morgan wouldn't be the worst option. Surprised they didn't sound Stokes out this season (they might have, no idea there)

I don't think there's anything that wrong with the Stars playing list, they are just poorly coached and led.
Steven Fleming is a fantastic coach and leader, universally respected . The problem is the the players out on the field. Bowling attack is very average, no strike bowlers, just pedestrian medium pacers and spinners who are nothing special. Need to find a couple of quick bowlers who can take early wickets. Batting is nothing special. Wright, Quiney, Pieterson, all past it. Nothing in the middle order to provide a boost when needed. Hastings is not up to it, should not have been made captain. O
Overall, the list pretty ordinary. Steven Fleming is an excellent coach. Not his fault the players out there are not up to it.

Stokes would have been no good for Stars as once he might have been available the spots were filled.

Morgan would have been good

17/18 11 runs @ 3.66
16/17 364 runs @ 52
15/16 113 runs @ 14.12
14/15 175 runs @ 21.87
13/14 395 runs @ 43.88

Not that surprising. Had a good first year and then got figured out in Hobart. Sacked from Hobart and had a dead cat's bounce at Adelaide. Back to normal transmission this year.

Like that option of Maxwell opening.

Has done it before, in a similar mould to Lynn. Best guys given best opportunity.

But, Dunk has been brought in as a specialist opener.

give Wright free-reign down the order (or don't pick him at all).

It will be interesting to see how they regenerate this Stars lineup. Obviously, picking 2 better International players will help a lot, but you would guess that the main recruiting targets from other teams would be locked in?

Really hard to improve your team with domestic players as there is not much movement.

Aside from unearthing a player from nowhere or throwing money at a few Scorchers and hoping one drops from the tree it is a pretty barren environment.

Most of the time you just pick up someone that is deemed surplus to their current team and hope they can turn it around e.g Strikers taking on Dunk, Hobart taking on Christian, Stars taking on Hilfy the other year, Strikers taking on Siddle this year etc.

Potentially undervalued batting players to target - Wells (Adelaide), Heazlett (Heat), Ross (Heat), McDermott (Hurricanes), Cooper (Renegades), Harris (Renegades), Hughes (Sixers), Silk (Sixers)

Batting wise you already have Maxwell and Stoinis, just have to hope Dunk comes good again, then if you add a gun international bat, plus Handscomb as a middle order anchor and a half decent guy from the list above then it is not that bad, you only need a capable batting line up to win T20s.

There is not that much difference between say Hastings or Gulbis and Faulkner, so maybe that is where you can take a downgrade on Faulkner and an upgrade somewhere else, I'd try and tempt Hurricanes to trade Faulkner for McDermott. McDermott definitely one young T20 bat I'd be buying shares in but I guess Hobart have an ageing batting line up with Bailey and Christian so maybe they wouldn't even do that.

Fast bowling wise it is really hard to find targets outside the Scorchers. You will definitely need to use the second international signing on a quick I would think. Renegades pulling off Wildermuth was a big coup. Strikers really only have Stanlake, Hurricanes have no good domestic quicks, ditto the Thunder given Cummins is never going to play, Heat quicks are no good, maybe Tremain is gettable from the Renegades. Really like Sams at the sixers and Dwarshius has been pretty decent since he came into the side. Maybe two more guys worth targetting that would be on base wage currently.
