Well, so who's going?

This is taken from the Melbourne Storm website at melbournestorm.com.au, just thought I should post it for all the Melbourne based Storm fans!

Rd 24 - Melbourne Storm v New Zealand Warriors

Melbourne Storm and the New Zealand Warriors will be playing for the Michael Moore Trophy.

When: Saturday 19th August 2006
Where: Olympic Park
Time: Gates open 5.30pm. Game starts 7:30pm

Melbourne Storm take on the New Zealand Warriors in a Saturday night blockbuster at Olympic Park!

The two teams will be playing for the Michael Moore Trophy, which is currently held by Storm after they defeated the Warriors in round one. The Warriors have won their past two games and while out of 2006 finals contention, will be keen to continue their good late season form and regain the trophy.

The Storm are on the verge of creating club history. A win over the Warriors would see them wrap up the minor premiership for the first time and extend the winning streak at home to a record 16 straight wins.

Come and support your Melbourne Storm and experience Rugby League at it's best.

They usually get a pretty big crowd for this game don't they?

The Michael Moore trophy has been dominated by Melbourne if my memory is correct.

What kind of crowd is expected? I'd estimate approx. 15-16,000 as the Kiwis seem to come from the woodwork.

Not a bad team, AuckMel.

For thos of you who may not know, the Warriors would be right in line for a top 8 spot had they not had a 4 point deduction. They also have one of the best for and againsts in the competition.

This is a real danger game for the Melbourne Storm. Should be a pearler!

This game is the hardest game to pick of the year I think.

Melbourne flying and the Warriors proving everyone wrong with momentum and in a feel good lets entertain style mode.

This could have it all.

I hope it opens up.:thumbsu:

No offence to any Warriors fans, but how can it be hard to pick when the Storm have won 11 on the trot and 15 straight at home? ...

The Warriors have it all to play for, if they knock off the Storm and continue to win, with results going their way, they can make the 8.

They have the 3rd best for and against in the comp, if they make it, you watch the other teams **** themselves.

Imagine No1 or No2 running into the Warriors 1st week of the finals.:D

I remember when the Bulldogs had won 17 in a row and the Warriors knocked them off.

In all honsety, the Storm should win, but if the Dogs beat the Broncos on friday night the Warriors will still have it all to play for. My main concern remains in the backs. Our pack is as strong as any in the comp, but the backs are a bit suspect.

Storm by 13+ quite easily. I am contemplating going but I just don't know yet. needless to say I could just walk up to the gate at game time and get a ticket in the general admission area no doubt about that.

Would be happy with 13,000+ to be honest

I doubt very much the Warriors will even cme close to the finals but they are still a good team to watch.

Phil- The reason it is a hrad game to pick is that the Warriors are unbelievably inconsistent as you would know and I just get a feeling that the Storm run has to hit a speed hump soon. In saying that, I'd still tip Melbourne by 1-12.

Just for everyones information, the Warriors very rarely lose by more then 10. The 36-6 loss to Penrith a few rounds ago was the biggest loss for them in three years. I don't think many other teams could claim to have only lost one game by 30 in the last 3 years. If there is, I'd be interested to know.

Yeh well i'm really hoping that we win.

It should be a great matchup to see the 'Greatest Improver of the Year' (Cooper Cronk) size up against one of the main contenders for 'Rookie of the Year' (Grant Rovelli). :thumbsu:
