Elwood and Hurstbridge pick up important wins in the closing stages of this season to keep right in the hunt for those final 8 spots, as West Lalor consolidate their place. Burwood falls out of the top 4 after their loss to Armo-Tooro, with Prahran sneaking in by half a game.

Malvern all but sew up their top 8 spot with a win against Keon Park, while Rowville's loss to Elwood probably takes the Redbacks out of the race with 2 rounds left. Four teams remain locked on 10 wins in the 7th to 10th positions, with Elwood's draw and strong percentage keeping them at the top of that pile. Coburg with a strong updated entry this week to put their best foot forward. Hurstbridge will need a couple of big wins with a percentage disadvantage.

Some playoff scenarios:

A-T will finish top unless they lose to Airport, which they won't.

Brighton and Bentleigh will finish 2-3 and play off in a qualifying final, with Brighton likely to host unless Prahran can pinch this one from them.

Burwood hold 4th but if they lose, are only half a game ahead of Prahran in 5th

Malvern are 6th and could climb to 5th if they win and Prahran lose, or with a 25% swing in percentage. Probably too big.

Elwood are 7th, half a game ahead of 3 teams with a far superior percentage, but probably need to win or at least draw with Keon Park to guarantee their place in the 8.

West Lalor, Coburg and Hurstbridge all have 11-7 records and the percentage difference between West Lalor and Coburg in 8th and 9th is only 2.7%. Hurstbridge are 20% further back and need 2 of Elwood, West Lalor and Coburg to lose. All 4 of these sides are playing teams below them on the ladder.

It's finals time in the MSFL!

West Lalor hang on to 8th spot as Coburg can't haul in the percentage required to overtake them. Good luck to all participants, and thanks to all of the teams who missed out for making this a memorable first season. A few short weeks to go and we'll be handing out a flag.
