Tonight i was expecting to see one of the 4 victorian clubs who have a realistic chance of winning the premiership this year. Boy was I disappointed. At full strength, on their favourite ground, against a Saints side missing Riewoldt, the Dee's self-destructed, and didnt have the character to fight back one bit once the going got tough. What excuse could they offer for tonights inept performance? Mental toughness, or lack of it is the only thing i can put my finger on.

Davey, Yze, and Johnstone are some of the softest players in the league. Carroll is the most overrated defender in the competition, and Neitz should have retired 4 years ago. The Dees have some good players in Mclean, Bruce, and MacDonald but they dont have a single GREAT player on their list that can inspire them when things are going wrong. Not one leader amongst them.

That statistic about 1 team from the previous years top 8 falling down into the bottom 4 - well i think we found this years slider. Melbourne: the biggest bunch of front runners in the competition.

Final word: Pretenders

melourne lost their first 3 last year and almost grabbed a top 4 spot.

I wouldnt write them off after just one game. Anyone who does knows nothing about the game
