me and a mate are flying across from perth to melbourne next friday for a bit of a boys weekend and to watch the mighty dockers give the saints a run for their money on the sunday. already booked tickets to 2 games of footy and to see arj barker on the friday night for the comedy festival. we've flown across before for a dockers away match but never really knew where to go and ended up at the richmond hotel after a mcg game and then to crown and any local bars near where we were staying (port melbourne last time). this time were staying pretty close to the city centre. tried googling pubs etc in melbourne to visit but about a millions pubs come up, jeez u guys are lucky :)

anyways just wondering if anyone can us some heads up as for good/interesting pubs for mid 20s to visit after arj on the friday and after the collingwood/hawks match on the saturday night?
also wouldnt mind seeing melbournes version of the amplifier/capitol, whatever that is, if anyone has been to perth before?

If you like Amplifier, check out either the Rochester Castle in Fitzroy or Ding Dong Lounge in the CBD. Even better at Ding Dong if there's a weekender on - which, having just checked the webpage, there isn't.

I'd say that by the time you've finished at the G and possibly gone back to the hotel to change it'll be about 11-11.30, Rochy doesn't fire up till like midnight so it'll be perfect to get a couple beers in before hitting the DF for some indie classics.
