The kid dominated in his first ever VFL game.
He was knocking Geelongs veteran players over like bowling pins.
Absolute machine.
I would be pressing for either this, or to let him go to another club and just take 3 other first round picks given its a strong draft.
He'll end up at Melbourne eventually - even if he plays 2 or 3 years elsewhere first - so anyone willing to invest a high pick on him is taking a big risk..

I think at the worst we will still finish above 3 or 4 teams. But just say we do stay 17th as we are now and GWS are 18th. We need to have a chat with GWS and come to the conclusion that we both have different oponions on who is pick 1 and offer them our first round pick (2), our second round pick and a player in exchange for pick 1 and a third round pick. Then we would have picks 1, 3, 11 and get Viney with our third round pick. GWS would be happy because they are still getting who they believe is the best player in the draft plus they are getting an extra second round pick and a player.

Forget the ducks and drakes, he'll be taken with our 1st pick if we need to, and with our 2nd rounder if we get lucky
Viney will not want to sit out for 12 months, no way, and honestly, I don't think we'd want him to

The notion of telling JV to go to GWS then come back in 2 years time is downright insane and far too risky a prospect
Lets look at the facts
We have a 17 year old kid ready to step up RIGHT NOW
He / we has / have the benefit of this kid being in our system for a number of years before he's even drafted. This benefit cannot be understated
He is a gun, who some want to risk losing or delaying for the sake of 1 more speculative and unknown draft pick
It's 1 draft pick (and yes I admit in the current state of things it looks as though it will be a very low draft pick). But its still 1 pick
This kid is going to be good, he's worthy of a 1st rounder, we've already put time and development into him, he'll play a bit with our 2's this year, he knows all of his future team mates already, he knows the gameplan.
Just be happy we finally have a gun F/S selection (and not another Chris Johnson)

Neeld has already set the scene. See the Melbourne website. He said no problems picking up Viney if is top 5 with a very early pick. If he is top 10 then there will be discussions. Sowing seeds of doubt in GWS/GC etc minds - good.
The simple way to go is to have a wink, wink, nudge, nudge talk with Jack and Todd just prior to father/son nominations and pay out Jack's contract.
This will throw the gauntlet right at the feet of clubs below us. If they nominate Jack then that indicates his true worth as oppossed to them employing a strategy to force us to use first pick regardless. In this case if they nominate then we know we are getting a good deal using our first pick.
Paying out Jack will keep the other clubs honest - and we still can pick him up father/son - and on top of that Jack will make a few extra bucks with his payout. Win/Win.

Yeah Neeld is sowing the seeds, an yeah it was good for him to come out and say that, but in the grand scheme of things it's quote meaningless
No matter what, we'll be selecting JV

As i have said on previous posts , i saw this kid on Saturday and i wouldnt care if we had to give up both our priority picks in the first round for Jack,
he will be a STAR.
Lets get this through the thick sculls of some supporters that we are not going to risk loosing him to some other club, it wont matter what pick we have to give up, just think of Selwood/Judd, what would a club give up to get one of those boys.
Jack Viney will be a once in a decade freak!
Just hurry up and finish this season and finish where we finish so we can move on him, wherever we end up, it wont matter.
If you get a chance to see him going around in Casey- you will understand where i am coming from.

**** draft picks - look where it's gotten us. I'd take Viney at any number based on what i've seen thus far.

Typical of MFC supporters to wanting to tamper this draft again! FFS he is worth an early pick and it is no ones fault but our own if they use their first pick on him! We should be focused on winning games of football then this would be a non issue.... So fed up with the same crap
Agreed, I'd prefer to win some games, end up higher on the ladder and take the spotlight off this shit
