I've found the footy stats website and I must say I'm very disappointed with our drafting over the years...

I've spent some time last night putting this together and it does not make for good reading.

Melbourne has the 3rd least number of average games played by players we have drafted from the National Draft only. I've not done the figures for Preseason or rookie.

That stat is interesting but doesn't necesarily reflect our drafting abillity. Craig Cameron just got poached to Richmond and he is renwed as one of the best recruiters in the business. Have a look at the Dees 1997 rookie draft, its pretty amazing. Robertson and McDonald. They've played over 200 games each.

I think you should put a little bit more thought into your posts mate

Really have a look at 1998

13th Chris Lamb 21 Luke Speers 72nd Luke Taylor

2 bad years. would like to have a look at some other clubs worst performances. 2001 we still have mark jamar and miller on our list

These are all value pick-ups in my opinion from the national draft...

Clint Bartram (60)
Simon Buckley (53)
Michael Newton (43)
Matthew Whelan (50)
Cameron Bruce (64)
Guy Rigoni (77)
Nathan Brown (66)
Anthony McDonald (59)
Russell Robertson (68)

No it doesn't make for good reading, could you go through the effort of making it readable. Also any stat that Fitzroy are leading should be discounted, and I don't know when you first got your figures, but since the start of the draft Carlton have won a flag and Adelaide have won two.

Basing it on 2 bad years are we? Why don't you put up 2000, 02, 03, 04, 05 etc etc. It's hard for recently drafted players to have played 200 games you idiot.

As a Tigers supporter, looking at the young players at melbourne, it makes me wonder why this Cameron bloke is so highly rated. Recent tiger drafting has obviously been hit and miss, but the last 2 years have really looked like we are begining to get it right, and now this guy might mess it all up again.
Fingers crossed he doesnt.

I had a look at the website you got your figures from... I would say far from terrible... we would appear to be mid range each year with some years we draft quite well in terms of games played and there was a couple of dud years.... like every club.. i'd say we recruited above average...far from 'terrible'....

And the stupidity keeps rising...

Mate, you are a dead set muppet.
We got some great kids and they have performed much better than the ones in your side over the last 10 years, since Big Craig Cameron has been at the club.

You should be estatic to be gain such an honest and professional senior recruiter, not throw it back in our faces...

hopefully big CC saved his best for the 2007 national draft, and gives you nothing!
Catch ya in 2008 for another woodenspoon you feral...

Come on Dutchy... Miller was going to be sacked/traded if not for new coach and the big russian (from rookie draft by the by so was not included in the stats I posted) is not going to take us to a flag.
2 years you say.. the stats point to consistent under performing in my mind.

We have been great in the late stages of the draft, and rookie draft but at the top end I think we've battled and our lack of premierships shows this.

Just thought it was an interesting set of stats. I will certainly spend some more time looking into our individual drafts as well.

yea apologise for that will try and get it in a more readable format.. I got them from Footy wire as I mentioned in the inital post. I went through each season and got the figures of players drafted vs games played. Fitz obvious annomily as they were only in it for 5 years and used every player as they were battling.

Why are you being aggressive, I'm a Melb supporter simply putting up facts, if you don't agree with it fine but at least put something behind it instead if vitriol (means anger or wrath..)

I'm basing it on all of the drafts since 1991. CAC was in charge for ten years. As I said the top of our drafts have been average...
The recent form has been good, since 03 we have had 4th most games played from draft prospects.
2000 16th, 2001 14th, 2002 8th...

I'm a muppet???? Your the one that believes this guy is so great, and has been for the last 10 years. If so, what exactly has it got you?
Besides Brock McLean, name one of your so called "kids" which are any good?
Wouldnt get too far ahead of yourself, 2008 woodenspoon, Melbourne is definitely in the race, possibly leading.

Let’s take a look at the DRAFT for the last 10 years.
Going back 10 years isn’t required to get my point across, but I will.
97 - His best pick in the last 10 years would have to be Travis Johnstone, although it should be mentioned that he was pick 1 and he doesn’t need to be a genius to get a decent player with that pick.
98 – Duds. Preseason draft – Troy Simmonds, so this was more about Cameron getting lucky, because if he knew Simmonds was going to go on and become a decent player, he probably would have taken him at pick 13 instead of Chris Lamb (yeah I’ve never heard of him either)
99 – Brad Green at pick 19, good work. Got lucky with Cameron Bruce at pick 64
00 – Not worth bringing up. Of the 10 players you picked up in this draft, they played a total of 100 games between them and of the 3 players still playing from this draft, non are at the dees
01 – Luke Molan, pick 9, games 0. WOW
02 – pick 14 Daniel Bell, pick 15 Nick Smith, another year of recruiting magic
03 – Cameron must have been on holidays, had a good year, mclean (your only gun in the last 5 years) and davey (good for 1 year at least)
04 – matthew bate and lynden dunn, worthy of 1st round draft picks? I think not
05 – Nathan jones can actually play, that’s it
06 – to be far we will give the rest some time to prove you right or wrong.

Stop making an absolute fool of yourself. Do you enjoy having Danny Meyer instead of either Bate or Dunn? And then you say Bruce and Simmonds were lucky picks. I would continue but its really not worth it, because it only takes 2 words to describe Richmond's recruiting 'Pavlich' and 'Franklin'.

Come now "junior" (is that some kind of tag for being the 14th person to have the same gosh darn borning name, Billy Wayne Bob Jnr the 14th?) I think tiges would be leading that. One of the venerable institutions of sportsbetting has us leading wooden spoon betting which I must say I was very surprised at. I think we will push for the 8, but I always think that....
Someitmes I think we will push for top for with a real shot at the flag too..... Sometimes I think I will develop a solution to global warming within the next 8 years and date a model too..

Muppet Boy, Im not gonna sit here and defend your own senior recruiter.. you should be excited about this appointment and not being such a typical Richmond supporter eating their own...

Its people like you that probably would give that guy that spat on Danny Frawley a pad on the back...

and as for your second post your reasoning makes me lose control of my bladder.. its an absolute joke... lets just go thru and few..

Cam Bruce - you said we got lucky... top recrtuiters find these players late while the shkifos at Richmond were too busy recruiting dud coaches..

Daneil Bell - is of our most hard at it players and you call it "recruiting magic" in a sarcastic tone... boy would i love to go thru the richmond list to do this but not only do I have a life, i am also currently at work and you'll probably need to grow some teeth to get a job...

Bate and Dunn - top young players that have shown glimpes of brillance and still young, cant survey their carreer at the age of 21..

There a few player that were poor selections, but every club has that... as a richmond supporter you should understand that... but in order to comprehend it, you'd need a brain... you wont find too many of them at punt road.

hahahaha.. GOLD!!!!

Ausde13, sometimes the greater public have a better idea about a team and their list when compared to a love blind supporter.
The dees pushing for the 8? that prediction is worse than your hair cut.
And as for the dees making the 8 and you dating a model, there is more chance of bruda getting off his V plates.
