Melksham's replacement

I cant see Crossy going anywhere. Always expressed interest in Fitness/coaching and now has the gig. Body is pretty beat and has nothing to prove on top of that. Cant see it happening.

I would also like to see a internal promotion, rather than looking elsewhere. Much better for the club and the individual.

Cross works in the fitness department and trains with the players every day
Yeah i knew that he does all that isnt he taking over as our runner as well on game day. Bloke basically does all he used to but lets a young bloke in the team

Yeah I think he will be the game day runner aswell, we are keeping him just as involved in the club as before he loves the MFC

He loved the Doggies too but didn't stop him from joining Melbourne, luckily for us. Sounds like he wasn't exactly enamoured with the decision to be let go last year either..
I think Crossy just loves footy and if he's still fit, which he sounds like he is, and the drive is there, then I can see it being a tempting proposition for him. I hope like hell he stays though, I love the bloke.

Difference being and maybe I'm just hoping that we have given him a job and a career where as the dons can offer 1 year of the biggest beatings of your life

I'm not too worried that he'll leave us. Given he's not playing anywhere (not playing NTFL, VFL, or wherever Carolyn Springs play) you'd think that he's probably switched off from being an AFL player by now. When he came to us a few years ago, he made it clear he wanted to carry on his career, and i believe had a few suitors from early in the post season, where as he's now a long way down the road of transitioning into a coaching role, it would be pretty tough from a mental perspective to turn that around with the NAB Challenge about 6 weeks away.

Also don't underrate the influence of the family, specifically the Minister for War and Finance. Given he brutally knocked himself out in his last game with everyone there watching, I can't imagine she'd be too happy with him getting out there again.

Good list of Bomber top-up options from AFL.com.au: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-01-14/which-topup-players-could-the-bombers-turn-to

1) Hypothetically, if we could take one from this list, who would it be?

2) Since when has Rohan Bail been a coach's dream?

3) Would you like to see a delisted MFC player at Essendon? I'd love to see The Russian going around

1) Mitch Golby. Like-for-like

2) Does defensive pressure acts. Just can't kick or do anything else

3) It'd actually hurt a little watching Jamar or Cross playing for them, knowing that both probably could've gone on another year, and in Jamar's case, not finishing a one-club player.

It wouldn't hurt as much as JMac to the Giants did, but still, especially if they play well. That said if Jamar gets one of the ten spots (which it now seems like he will) I wish him all the best and would not hold it against him.

Would be happy to see someone like McKenzie, Riley etc given a go though.

Can I ask why do MEL get a top up player when the Pies were not able to for the Thomas and Keefe suspensions

Because they did their drugs whilst Collingwood players.

A fairly simple difference IMO.

I'm not too bothered. I'd be happy for Cross to play for Essendon; they need all the help they can get.

Getting rid of JMac hurt. It was careless and showed no respect whatsoever. Seeing him play for the Giants, however, didn't hurt me. In fact, I was pleased for him.

Ughh Mitch Golby, I actually played all my junior footy against him, he played for Kilcunda-Bass and I could not have been more shocked to see him play at AFL level, Could name a handful of blokes from that league that were miles in front of him including Jarryd Blair who I won underrage premierships with and was twice the player through the juniors

I don't know why we didn't offer him a ruck coach job. He was pretty much coaching Gawn and spencil last year anyway

What do you think the chances are of melksham talking a few of the Essendon players that are rubbed out to come over to the dees at the end of the year???
No idea, except that while there are supporters who are pretty down on him, I have a couple of more rational mates that worked for the Essendon social club that said he was very well liked by other players so may still have contact with the group of suspended players.

So the options are;

Wagner
Michie
King
White
Smith

If we have to decide before the season starts, then I'll hazard a guess that it'll be Michie.

If we are allowed to wait until round 8 or 9, then I suspect it will be one of White or Wagner.

Agree. Wagner could be a chance if he performs in NAB challenge.

White has a bullet of a kick and is very strong in the contest.

I think his lack of run will hold him back at the top level.

We also picked up Wagner as well which potentially pushes white back further

Would like to see a youth promoted. Bite the bullet now and put some miles into a youngster, we developed nicely last year but we are not a top four chance in 2016 so I see an older player as a a bit of a waste of an opportunity.

May aswell dump Bernie Vince cause hes getting old?

Who is the older player we could promote anyway?
