Just received a letter from the club asking for my interest and position in an member advisory group as per below

Personally I think this is a very positive move by the football club. I will definitely give it some thought before I apply. Has anyone else received this offer to apply?

Dear <Member>

One of the most important responsibilities we have as a club is ensuring we are always listening to our valued members.

That's why I'm pleased to personally invite you to apply for Port Adelaide's inaugural Member Advisory Group - a select group of members who will meet every two months to share their perspectives, suggestions and insights directly with the club.

This group will play an important role in shaping how we serve and engage our members. We're looking for applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, tenures and experiences to ensure the voice we hear is genuinely representative of our whole community.

Applications are open now via the link below and close at 5pm ACDT, Monday 30 March.

We look forward to reviewing all applications and will be in touch with successful candidates to take the next steps.

On behalf of everyone at Port Adelaide, I encourage you to apply and thank you for your continued support of the club.

Really? That's the opposite of what I've seen from Richo since he's been in charge. I Thought their most important responsibility was to block out the external noise.

They'll hand select a bunch of members who are 'onside' so they get the answres they want and they can point to it and say "see we respect our members' opinions"

Come on now. What a cynic. What has the club done to possibly make you think this... Oh hang on...

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Unfortunately genuine or not this admin have done their dash with regards to apparent olive branches. You simply cannot under any circumstances trust them or their motives.

They have to go. It's too late for platitudes. Don't be fooled by this shit. They saw they almost lost their patsy board spot to an outsider for the second time in a row and now they are making disingenous outreach to keep the wolves at bay.

I've applied but I suspect I'm not what they're looking for.
Ditto.

They'll take one look at my survey responses over the last ten years and put a line through my application.

Will be interested in Enviable Tradition’s views on this 🧐🤨
I might write some more tomorrow but I am some what cynical of the clubs intentions here given there previous actions and their public statements about the worthiness of what they call "white" or "external" noise.

Controlled opposition is the term that springs to mind.

I must admit that I do take some pride in the club's sudden desperation to appear that they are listening to the members though.

i remember the last one I went to and was admonished by Davies for asking if our mids used a checkdown system to honour leads.

Mrs R received the email as she is the 'lead' member.

The concept is good but the ability to have any meaningful input/influence is open to conjecture.

Perhaps I'm simply too old, too cynical and too jaded but i genuinely hope this initiative will work for the benefit of all.

Having been on a government industry advisory board, I am acutely aware of how well intentioned advice may be filtered.

Just make it work!!

It's problematic if you don't know the full story behind the scenes. I think any challenge to the club narrative will eventually get a similar response as the members who question it, only sees the face of it. How much will the club reveal in these meetings will be interesting going forward. Will this advisory group be subject to an NDA?

I'm thinking about applying but not sure if I have a good feel on what the current membership base actually wants other than wins and premierships. I just dont think there is enough members out there that want any significant change at board level. Most just want to be involved at gameday and that's it.
