So why would the Government waste money investigating the AFL when they have their own issues to address ? We were be served investigating the way Government's do business.

Think it's pretty clear, protect players private information.

You seem to be looking at from the point of view of this case, suspect both ASADA and the AFL are looking at it from a broader point of view, the precedent it sets.

If successful what to stop the press for instance to push the boundaries and do similar requests on all players tested last year but ask for names to deducted but not substances used in last 7 days?

The fact the AFL is threating to move away from ASADA if granted makes it pretty clear in my eyes they don't want this type of private info to come out, both past and future.

Actually, there wasn't really one at all. Dean Wallis's after the fact one doesn't count.

The reality is all players are given a copy of their Doping Control Form - Some players would keep this as a reference, while others would have discarded their forms - Of course the club and MOST importantly the AFL will have a copy of any drug tests and quite possibly the DC forms - You may ask - Why would the AFL have a copy ? Well if ASADA is running a drug testing program for the AFL and allegedly receiving 400K pa, then the AFL will have records - Now the bigger question is whether all relevant players have a copy of their injection regime ? My guess is some do and some don't ?

I will add if you believe the players don't know when they were injected or what players were injected with, you have to wonder how CAS could make a definitive judgement.

The AFL has threatened for at least two years to outsource their drug testing to another provider - They could easily use someone like IDTM - As long as the tests go to an accredited WADA Lab all is sweet - Maybe the AFL is using this FOI as a ruse to break away anyway - The irony is the AFL leaked like sieves during their joint investigation with ASADA.

The biggest anti-doping case in Australian sport, and the careers and reputations of a generation of Essendon footballers, are determined by a GUESS.

Rubbish. You are questioning a panel of eminent legal minds who found the players contributed to their doping based on all the evidence. It wasn’t one thing that hung the players, it was many.
