I thought it was very ordinary from Walsh last night to make that comment about the three players not finishing in the top 10. Treloar was injured twice throughout the year and Stephenson was in and out of the side while clearly still recovering from glandular.

It just struck me as extraordinarily petty.

Hang on ...

... You can’t have the collective supporter base screaming out for answers why the club traded out prized players, and then when the club point out an objective explanation about why those prized players are perhaps not so prized after all, an explanation that isn’t breaking any confidentiality, you can’t then accuse them of being petty? It makes it look like you’re just trying to find reasons to be upset with the club.

It not being untrue doesn't make it necessary to say.

I see it from both perspectives, but lean towards yours because a Walsh backhander doesn’t mean what it once did. I can remember Wellingham leaving and his comments being particularly pointed. They’ve lost their oomph now that we seem to hear them every year. Coming from a guy that hates saying anything publicly it just feels a bit vindictive these days...

That line wasn’t actually said but it is clear that one of the reasons for calling for a review is that it provides a shield for answering questions. As you seem to understand, letting the review continue without further comment is what is accepted so that all the facts can be uncovered without disruption. That’s great but eventually more people will question what is actually going on with the review and not accept the ignorance.

Sounds a bit like the rushed hotel quarantine inquiry, once announced those implicated refused to answer questions on the basis of an undergoing inquiry.
Despite the fact the head of the inquiry Coates saying as it was not a judicial inquiry they were free to do so.
A‘ la a smoke screen.

yes I agree especially as average form this year would not have been a significant factor.

Sure.

If we're talking about the amount if games they played. Phillips (15) Treloar (10) and Stevo (14)

Pendles played 15 after being injured midway through and came runner up in the copeland.

I think the club clearly saw they wanted some new blood in the midfield and treloar was not making us any better. Was not damaging with his touches. Stevo, if he was that hampered by his illness, shouldn't have been playing. Phillips, was unfortunate with the hammy but was pushed out of the wing to the forward line. There is no hard feelings there. But he prob hasnt made much of an impact since 2018.
Clearly Stephenson was not helped by his off-field approach.
Betting scandal the year before and at least a couple of problem issues this season and little interest in accepting the feedback about needing to pull his head in.
Might have persevered with him on poor form alone. Confidence can be returned and he had enough skill to still hit the scoreboard more than almost all our forwards.

Does kinda feel like they had a line in the sand moment. Enough was enough. Saw him as replaceable.

“So I won’t be handing off a hospital handball, that is why I’m making this announcement tonight, to give interested parties or more to the point people we are interested in, time to get their affairs in order and for me and my board to have the opportunity of providing a Barack Obama style transition rather than a Donald Trump experience."

He seems to think spying on an incoming presidential team is the right way to transition. That was the Obama style. McGuire continually injects his political views into discussions which is the quickest way to cause division with your supporter base. So much for side by side.

Just one of the reasons I can't wait to see the back of this purple faced pumpkin headed virtue signaling tosser.
I wish ultra-right conservatives would stop using lazy terms such as 'virtue signalling' and 'culture wars.' Because somebody has a different view and is prepared to voice it, doesn't mean they are disingenuous, as the term virtue signalling smugly suggests.

Anybody sane person hopeful of a smooth presidential handover at Collingwood, would hope it were Obama style and not the pathetic spectacle currently embarrassing the United States.

You're surprised that Walsh could be extraordinarily petty? I could add a few more adjectives for you - rude and disrespectful, for starters.

Only an ignorant person (and McGuire certainly is) would wish for a handover in the manner Obama carried out his. It is not a subject for debate. His administration spied on Trump and members of his campaign team before and during the transition period. Obama also changed the rules in the final days of his presidency so that members of his staff and bureaucrats could illegally unmask people's names and illegally leak conversations to the media. There was no punishment by the Justice Department, and somehow there were no leaks surrounding Hillary or Obama.

This was done at the last minute in order to make it easier to leak to the media and sure enough Trump suffered unprecedented leaks in the early days of his administration.

Trump has not done anything remotely unconstitutional during the period of time which has passed since the election. So what is the problem? Hillary herself said Biden should not concede under any circumstances and nobody denounced her. The only pathetic aspect of the state of affairs in America is the senile, corrupt fool they are propping up in the hope he is still standing on inauguration day. Then the old man will be put to bed and dragged out once in a blue moon to parrot words he not only cannot pronounce but doesn't understand. He can't even pronounce the names of cabinet members he supposedly chose himself!

I'm not ultra with regard to anything other than my support for the Collingwood Football club. ;)

McGuire has regularly promoted his political views and leanings throughout his tenure as President and it is divisive and unnecessary. Anyone who uses their position on one platform to push another agenda cannot complain if they receive pushback or criticism. He must know a large percentage of the Collingwood fan base would be right leaning so what does it achieve? Side by side but F off if you support Trump or Morrison?

He is an absolute hypocrite anyway ( and therefore disingenuous.) I am always staggered by the number of socialist millionaires there seem to be in the western world. He is also the man who has created more controversy with his alleged "racist" and ""sexist" comments during his time as President yet he constantly promotes the great work being done at Collingwood to promote gender equality and fight racism. Walk the talk or shut up.
