i no its pretty irrelivant to some people as i would prefer to win games of footy than have the most victorian members but essendon are boasting how they have 35000 members already and that they will easily beat collingwood this year, last time i was told we had just over 30000 about 5000 less then essenscum, hopefuuly everyone joins up so we can beat them at something

geez i hope your right mate but i find it a bit hard to believe, last year after such a great start being 8 and 3 at the halfway mark we still just got over 38,000

You get more members based on the results of the previous year than based on the results so far this year.

Essendon "boasting" you don't say mate that's what they do best.....There **** a hoop ATM.... 2 wins and all of a suddan it's a top 4 finish from the scumbags from Windy Hill and ofcause once again the attitude of "We have more supporters than you comes to the fore" just remember Kev who was the first Victorian team to crack 40K members? Yes mate Collingwood F.C only 3 years after you told the world that your club would be the first, for some reason they are obsessed with Collingwood and everything we stand for rather than look in there own backyard......

But saying that if thoise mugs keep winning and we drop a game before Anzac Day and with it being a Essendon Home game I have nightmares of a sea of black and Red on Anzac day......I hope I'm wrong :(

Essendon trod on their clocks when they opted for Telstra Dome (or whatever they call it this year) as home ground. How funny, the AFL sold'em a pup on that one! Try and sell memberships to a ground where when it is full, a couple of 1000 people can't see all the ground. I'm of the understanding they share the facilities as I was invited to a Nth Melbourne function last year and was bemused to see a painting of a Footscray player on the wall, then the penny dropped as to what a crap deal Telstra Dome really is. Tell you what Sheedy has got though, awesome networking, heard they got Mal Micheal through some deal with a small Latrobe Valley footy club which has big connections at Essendon. Thats where Micheal was supposed to retire to (Darnum?). Sounds very Machiavellian but doesn't suprise as he spends a bit of time promoting footy up that way. Anyway the point is that for all their lack of buisness nouse Sheedy has provided a solid recruiting plan for that club. While they copy our awesome facilities and buisness model can we copy their recruiting and networking ability? No shame in following a proven model, just ask Carlton, not that it is working because there are still too many of the 'cheating' generation there.

Lets not forget Essendon give away memberships to strangers.

My friend, a few years ago, didn't follow AFL and was a buyer of IT software for his company (not sure who with), anyway like some company's give away MYER vouchers with purchases of toners this one gave him an Essendon membership. I couldn't stop laughing when he told me - btw he didn't go to a game.
