For those who received the letter in regards to the new Membership structure, all the info is now on the CFC website :-

2012 Membership Renewal forms will be sent to members on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 November.

Captains Club on Level Two

In keeping with the desire to provide the best facilities for the premier membership category, in 2012 Captains Club members will have reserved seating on Level 2 at both Etihad Stadium and the MCG.

The decision to allocate the reserved seating on Level 2, the best seats in the venue, for Captains Club members follows an increasing demand, including a waiting list, for Level 2 seating with no reserved seats currently available for new Captains Club members on this level.

First of all sorry for being on your thread but l purchase a membership for my sister in law and l heard that Carlton are stopping the monthly direct debit payment system and only going to accept either credit card, or cash payment for the total membership amount. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks

If they want to build their membership base I would think this is unlikely?

I havent heard about that yet however, they are just shy of a week from releasing the packages.

It is true unfortunately, got a letter in the mail saying my membership would not automatically renew as they are stopping direct debit payments ...shattered, not looking forward to paying so much in 1 big hit :(

I'm a student (with a few side ventures). I guess they don't want to retain every member. There is no way that I can pay it all out at once.

I've got captain club reserved seat on level 2 at etihad, and level 1 at the MCG but am on a waiting list to get level 2 at the G. Does this mean I lose my MCG seats if I am unable to get level 2 ones this year?

Come off it people, the club is simply cashing in on increased demand for is product as any other business would do. The demand for level 2 seats compared with their limited nature means that prices for them should go up to reflect this. Basic economics.

You have to pay an extra $150 to see the boys play from level 2? Boohoo, if you don't like it, sit on level 1, it won't cost you any extra. The club needs to make as much money as it can and this is just one of the avenues it will take. Remember, we are $7 odd million in debt.

Just be thankful you don't have to pay the tens of thousands that season ticket holders in the states are forking out. This is elite sport, deal with it

What a charming thing the CM must be to know. Its support of struggling fellow supporters is touching. What on earth domestic sports on the other side of the world have to do with AFL is somewhat puzzling.

I Understand that some of you will need to pay extra but its only an extra $1 for concession 11 members and $33 for Kids and it will guarnatee you a GF ticket if Carlton play in it.

Not to bad I also understand that its $155 for Adults, but all the money goes to the Club unlike reserves seats that the club has to buy from the ground and only makes part of the money.

I have had a level 2 captain club member for about 6 years now and it good to know if we are in the GF I will be there.

That's right, for the extra cash you get a guaranteed GF ticket, priority finals access in weeks 3 and 4, and a great captains club bar at the dome and the G. Very much worth it.

And apologies thy, but I just thought a little perspective needed to be applied here. I don't think it's right the amount of people slagging off the club for looking after their own interests

Collingwoods highest membership, Legends membership, cost over $800 a year. for 17-18 games. The seats are on level one at Etihad and at either level one or two at the MCG in the Ponsford stand. This membership guarantees a grand final ticket, ours are still cheaper i think in comparision.

Just wanted to clarify something about the payment-plan changes for 2012 Membership.

They are NOT removing the 10-monthly payments plan, they are only removing the option to pay directly from a savings account. The club is still retaining the monthly-installment plans from credit cards/chequing accounts. I believe the change has occurred because of issues with payments related to savings accounts (not fraud but people not paying and making it difficult to retreive money). Also it is still possible to pay with a credit card that is linked to a savings account, just no debit cards.

Somebody passed on this misinformation about the payment-plan on SEN yesterday (4/11) but this is incorrect and the club called in to confirm this too.

There seems to have been some confusion about whether a Captain's Club membership guarantees you a grand final ticket. The most important point to note is to read the membership brochure this year, as membership categories and the entitlements that go with each membership can change from year to year. So check if the membership you are purchasing does "guarantee" a ticket. If you are unsure about whether you are guaranteed a ticket, call the club and ask. Having said that, if you want to guarantee yourself a grand final ticket, purchase a club 17 add on if it is offered again, which this year was an extra $195, and that does guarantee you a grand final ticket at market value if Carlton makes it :thumbsu:

Nah there isn't, its a bit junk. There is a spirit of Carlton bar, but that's another step up, and a pretty expensive one, just for an easy drink at half time
Yes I know there is not one there at moment and you have to go down and half away around the ground so now Captains club is level 2 will they move the bar.

Great to hear, 49. Students and kids and low wage earners would have struggled bigtime. Thanks for the info. :thumbsu:

Thanks, fortynine. I was hoping that tidbit was wrong. I completely understand the club's position. I wonder how many people did that. It may only be a couple hundred people but that's a helluva lot of money to be losing from where the club thought it stood.

Will definitely re-sign and likely upgrade (if there isn't a shortage). :thumbsu:

I called the club about this on Friday, and was told that you would onlnly be able to make the payment plan through your Credit, or Debit card
I have been linked to a savings account for the last two years.
The Membership person encouraged me to get a Debit Card...so, unless they are giving out conflicting info...pretty sure you can indeed use a Debit Card.
Would be great if anyone else has info from the club on this?
cheers.
