I signed up 2 mates as full premium members this year, casual Lions fans with no real emotional connection to the club, just like good footy... reaction was pretty disappointed with the options, hoping for an auto rollover option. Both cancelling. Both said they will sign up next year as members assuming normal service resumes with games and crowds.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if the Gabba Trust or Cricketers Club are offering any type of refunds??

Gabba Membership offered two options

  • Option 1 – Credit towards your 2020/21 Membership (Plus Bonus!)
  • Option 2 – Monthly rebate for missed events

Option 1 – Credit towards your 2020/21 Membership (Plus Bonus!)

To show our appreciation for Members who roll over their membership balance and renew for the 2020/21 Membership year we are pleased to be able to offer an additional loyalty bonus.

If you select Option 1, your Membership package will consist of:
  • Credit for the period from 16 March 2020 through until the recommencement of public events or to the end of the membership period 31 August 2020 (whichever is earlier);
  • Plus a Loyalty Bonus discount of 15% on the value of the matches cancelled ; and
  • Extended Early Bird Discount of 10% off the full value of your Membership, available through to 31 December 2020.

Option 2 – Monthly rebate for missed events

At the end of each month you may elect to receive a refund for events missed during that month. The refund will be paid in arrears based on the events missed during that preceding month back dated to 16 March 2020 and will cease upon the recommencement of public events.

Should you select Option 2, your status as an active Member will be retained, meaning you remain eligible for the extended Early Bird Discount period for renewal.

Rebate Calculation

For a full membership valued at $516 each event through the affected AFL season is valued at $23.45.This is based on the full membership value of $516 less $258 (being 50% of the value already received up until 16 March) divided by the 11 AFL games scheduled this membership year.

It looks like if you pause your membership you still get to keep your seat and your membership status. Payments get credited towards next year.

Financially a tempting offer but don't want to take money away from the football club when I definitely can afford it.

Essendon and GWS offering members who leave their $ with the club a 50% discount on next years ticket - us 20%. Only explanation has to be that we are in much worse position financially.

THread on the main page where you can see what other clubs are offering their members, if anyone else interested.

The "admin fee" that our club are charging is a decent amount more than other club's "admin fees".

Geelong's look very generous.

West Coast have offered an option to roll it over to next year (minus $50 fee).

Seen a couple more, pretty standard stuff.

These are financial power houses though. Interesting stuff.

Thanks for going to the effort of posting that.

Surely all full season members will be given the same offer.

Thought they might offer more than a 20% discount.

"Preserve your pride" is an odd choice of words. So is using the word Cancel.

If you have already paid in full I guess the "pause" option is redundant...

There’s a lot of mind manipulation embedded in those graphics and words, all aimed at getting us to pledge. There will have been a team of marketing professionals debating it extensively.

We will pledge cause we are extremely lucky and our circumstances haven’t changed, but I hate that manipulative crap.

Must actively pledge your membership to have any chance for access to games, people who do not read their emails etc., and have not chosen anything, paying members of the club, have literally 0% chance of getting access to any of these games. Yet the default if you do not click anything is to pledge. Right.
