Membership 2025

Thanks for that information.
I know you like to sit behind the goals but did not know you were not a reserved seat member.
This looks similar to 3 years ago when i last changed seats
I remember putting 3 sections down
The bottom question is where i indicated "no further back than 10 rows from the front".
When they allocated our seats, we got nowhere near the sections requested and further than 10 rows back from the front.
I ended up ringing them and got good seats in Section 424 row EE
That was 3 years ago, and membership has risen sharply since then.
So, it will be interesting to know the number of seats available on the 10.12.24 and how many requests can't be fulfilled.

Was thinking we couldn't change seats even if we wanted - trying to get 9 seats together world be a nightmare.

Yes, it would especially considering the recent years big membership increases.
Finals would also be a hassle.

I am still trying to get my head around all the membership changes this year. I sit in sec 201, still classified premium and I’m a September member. So nothing has changed other than the price.

Thinking if Deluxe price is only $100 more than my current premium seat. Then my current September premium membership brings it to equal with a deluxe upgrade. Then I’m probably better changing to a deluxe seat for the same benefits but slightly better seat. Is this correct?

If this is correct, what if the membership department scrap the deluxe category after a year and then would everyone with deluxe September Member benefits lose it?

My sister and 2 others have been in section 201 forever and are considering a move.
That move if seats are available is to either Deluxe Section 220-224 seating AA- GG
Or the same section numbers but in Premium+ in Row HH-QQ.
Unfortunately, if you can't be placed where you would like to go then you will have to take what's available as a staff member will be contacting members that requests can't be fulfilled.

I think your calculation on prices is not correct.
I only have new member prices to go on so below has no loyalty discount which should be uniform anyhow.

Section 201 Premium Adult $ 575 + $100 September member = $675 less loyalty discount
Deluxe is $780 (includes Priority 1) less loyalty so an extra $105 less loyalty discount

If you went to Premium+ it is $625 +$100 September member = $725 less loyalty
Thats only an extra $55 less loyalty

However, a Deluxe Concession is only an extra $54 less loyalty so that's pretty good under the 2 extra categories.
Concession Premium+ being an extra $39.

I doubt they scrap Deluxe after introducing it in 2025.
The club now make more money by introducing 2 more higher seating categories.
If the Gabba held a larger capacity i doubt there would be a need for this (2 higher priced categories) in 2025.
Supply and demand working unfortunately.

‘WTF?’: Lions fans outraged at ‘premiership tax’ price hikes

The Brisbane Lions have been accused of slugging loyal fans with a “premiership tax”, with member seat prices at the Gabba soaring by up to 55 per cent.

The Brisbane Lions have been accused of slugging loyal fans with a “premiership tax”, with member seat prices at the Gabba soaring by up to 55 per cent.
Upset members have taken to social media to vent their anger over the “reclassification” of their seats for 2025, following last month’s historic grand final triumph over the Sydney Swans.

One long-time member said while they were “absolutely ecstatic” at the Lions’ success this year, they were “not so ecstatic” that the family’s “premium” seats at the Gabba had been reclassified as “deluxe” and would now cost 39 per cent more.

“I love the seats I have but with a family it really makes me pause. Sadly, it all seems to be just about the money off field,” they posted on Reddit.

A three-decade Brisbane fan told The Sunday Mail he was shocked to receive a $1115.50 membership renewal notice for his two regular seats at the Gabba, up from $877 this year.

“That’s a whopping 27.2 per cent year on year increase,” he said.

“Headline inflation is 2.8 per cent, so the Lions expect me and many others to stump up almost 10-times inflation. It would seem to be a blatant rip-off in the glow of premiership success.”

The member said he contacted the Lions to ask “WTF?” and was told his prime seats had been reclassified as premium. He was told he could move to other prime seats elsewhere in the grandstand but they would still cost $475 each – 8.25 per cent more than this season.

Another member said his three-game membership had jumped from $240 to $375 while another labelled the increases as a “premiership tax”.

A Lions spokesman said the club’s membership model had been largely unchanged for the last several years on the assumption the club would be displaced from the Gabba for a rebuild ahead of the 2032 Olympics.

“However, following a review completed earlier this year, there has been a reclassification of some sections, benchmarked against other clubs and codes, resulting in some price movement,” he said,

“There are also several categories where pricing has stayed the same to ensure tickets remain affordable and accessible.

“Some of the packages which have increased in value, includes the high demand,

September Membership which gives Members first priority access to purchase grand final tickets.

“The club has a wide range of memberships suitable for any age and any budget so fans can customise their experience.

“We encourage Members to reach out to the club to find the best fit product based on their circumstances.”

Membership of the Lions has soared to more than 63,000, with 70,000-plus members expected next season as the club seeks to defend its first premiership in two decades.

The club now has more members than the likes of St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs.

Definitely sucks, but from what I've seen a lot of clubs have bumped theirs up after keeping them steady-ish the last couple of years. We're definitely on the high end of increases if your seats got reclassified though.

After the covid years i think all clubs were just trying to get people back to the games first.
So, without knowing all clubs price structures i think they all keep prices as low as possible until the crowds returned.
Inflation has hit during this time and mostly absorbed by the clubs.
That would be the main reason for the catch up on normal profit margins.
Supply and demand account for the 2 extra higher seating categories.
Can't blame the club that The Gabba capacity is now not enough.

The 100% increase in September Membership is the main culprit when looking at total % increases
That should be taken out of price % increases. If you go to the GF that is the cheapest cost compared to accommodation and airfares. Also pretty cheap compared to the Melbourne clubs.
A September Membership upgrade or Deluxe seating with SM now included in the price is really an insurance policy, or a donation depending on if your side makes the GF.

I think it will be the people sitting in the now Deluxe category that have no intention of going to the GF are hardest done by.
They either cop the increase and retain what the club feels is the best seating in the Gabba or move.
The elderly couple sitting next to us won't go to the GF as it is too much hassle so they may not be there next year.
On the other hand, they could be well off and it won't matter in the slightest.

Once again making hay while the sun shines triumphs over biting the hand that feeds you. But there’ll come a time…
True to some extent.
Last time we were coming off a membership base of between 22 - 25 k.
Next time will hopefully be 70k plus so that should help

Interesting that Fages first year as Coach was the second lowest membership numbers during the period above.
2k less than Leppas last year.

Are the $ figures down the right hand side the profit for the year?
And the bracketed ones are losses?

With 2019 being our first profitable year since 2007?

Yes to everything

Will have to wait till the annual report but maybe the club will be debt free also.

We have 6 adult full season September Memberships (Premium Plus)... $4237.50 :moneybag:
$64 per game sounds better and hopefully a guaranteed GF ticket in 2025.
As long as you are not paying for all of them

Not all but I do pay for 4, mine and my son, daughter and daughter in laws. All good I am happy to do it, that is their birthday, Christmas and Festivus presents all done and dusted in one foul swoop.

Took a few goes emailing membership to fix up charging me an adult price instead of a concession.
All sorted today so i can now work out my price increase for 2025.

Like some others i now fall into the Deluxe seating category which has September membership built into the price.
I broke it down comparing prices to last year that also includes the Lions loyalty discount whatever that amount is.
Just taking the increase for season 2025 as 14%.
I am treating Sep Member as insurance or a donation depending on if we make the GF or not

Anyone know how the MCC dual-membership option works for finals/grand final? Can't seem to find anything online saying that it provides/doesn't provide access at all.

The MCC dual membership gives the club $65, and you get a membership pack. No special access rights. The fluffy wording is probably because different clubs include different things in their member pack (ie $20 lions shop voucher).
“2025 MCC Supporter Membership incl membership kit and additional benefits”.

I’m a full MCC member, but paying $930 for Lions VIC Trad. Membership for 4 people (with Sep. add-on) so wife & kids can go to GF if we make it. If we don’t make it, then that’s $930 to see 2 games at Marvel!
