Last year around December and January, a few of us raised the issue of membership and whether posters on this board were going to join up.

Quite a few were quite irate at the teams previous years performance, which weighed heavily upon their choice of rejoining.

To those supporters, are you willing to jump back on board now?? Also, would you be a proactive supporter by asking others to join up??

I think if we can get as many supporters as possible, then things like losing out on the 'home' MCG games won't happen as often. The AFL will have to pay more attention to us if we have 35k supporters (or more).

I know that the size of KP is limited, and membership probably won't allow for games all the time, however I look at the total cost of not having a club, or one that cannot meet its future obligations due to the AFL not allowing it to achieve its goals.

So to those who aren't members, are you going to join this year ??

I will be joining up when I come home in February. It's not a bandwagon thing, as I've been a cats fan since I was 6. It's always been a money issue for me, but now that I've got a bit behind me, 2008 membership here I come.

Ditto. Even being in Tasmania and not getting to see the guys this year, I'm still contemplating a full membership! And I'll be chucking in for the player sponsor too.

There was a supporter on here who resulted to personal insults against me when I comented on them not renewing their membership.

Their reasoning was that the GFC had removed pro-union activists from outside the ground because they were hastling fans. They had sent a letter to Brian Cook, and would not buy a membership until they got a personal response.

To that person, I hope you had to watch the Grand Final in front of a TV. There were plenty of people who bought membership, spent hard earned cash on the club, but still missed out on the pleasure of being there. So I sincerely hope that you missed out!

2007 has left a sour taste in my mouth. I doubt I will re-sign.
Irony right, Chappy?

I now live in Melbourne and am a MCC member and don't get to SS much. Frankly I'm not a big fan of the way it's been re-developed so don't venture down the highway as much as I use to - but that's another story. However, even though I don't get much use from the membership I always cough-up. We all should. Be a club supporter not merely a barracker.

A friend of mine put in for player sponsorship last year then got his account banned the next week... Fat lot of good that did him.

Re: membership. I have lived in a few states of Australia, none of which were Victoria, and rarely get to see games live. It's all about pride though. There's no point carrying on and saying you're a Geelong supporter unless you've put your money where your mouth is. I pay for a membership now, and don't get to see any games, but I still get to stick member stickers on my car etc.

I will be signing up again for my usual all Victorian games package with Spetember Membership.

Looks like you've ditched Septopia for an even catchier phrase for the finals month!!:D

Much like when cricketers will remain in the same place in the dressing room when there is a good partnership happening, i'm taking some credit for NOt having a membership for the first time since 1981....maybe i was a pox on Geelong. Although truthfully financially i was struggling then, next year though i'll get on board again...:thumbsu:

Soon (before Xmas) I will get a phone call from the club to go out to lunch, this is always the "So what did you think about last year" Chat, After they buy me lunch they slip you the bill for your membership and box for next year and say somthing like " hope to see you again next year", I wish they would just save there money on the lunch and just have like a kick to kick with some players or somthing, that would be much better.:)

Regardless, I'm paying my dues. Just not decided on what sort of a membership to pay for.

RE: Player sponsorship - I've been one for 2 years and i've never had that problem!

The only difference to last season is our family will probably get an extra membership to use (hopefully) during the finals next season, and just incase we happen to make another GF, it'll come in handy.

Has anyone got their membership forms sent out? And if not, when are they due? I know for a fact, reserved seats need to be in by the first week of December... thats pretty much only a month away now...

Dang I've been spending alot of money lately. :(

I'll be renewing my membership again next season, although I am actually a bit pissed with membership services down at the club/AFL. I asked (when on the phone to membership services) whether a Premium Interstate membership gave me access to GF tickets and was told that it did. Doesn't matter though, went anyway :D Anyone who doesn't renew their September membership... hmm... I pity the fool.

I'll be getting the Premium one again, got a nice bottle opener last time. Wouldn't be surprised if prices went up around the board for Cat's memberships given our success.

I'm also trying to convince a couple of Docker's supporting mates to get a Cat's membership, pointing out our case for future glory, Freo's bleak outlook, the joy they'll experience with looking forward to the weekend's footy again and the comparitively low prices for all of the Cat's memberships (they pay up around $300-400 I think ). My next argument will be their increased prowess with the ladies for the simple reason they'll walk around smiling instead of on the verge of tears. ;)

Nothing will stop me from signing up.

Will also put in for September Member, although I suspect I'll just get chucked on the waiting list.

For me a membership is essential. Like someone said, it's no point talking about being a Geelong fan if you aren't a member.

I know two people who are Crows fans (and live in Adelaide), although they both also really like Geelong. One has a boyfriend who is also a Geelong fan. Even though they live in Adelaide and the Crows are their #1 team they will most likely be signing up as Geelong members next year so when they come across to Melbourne they can go to Geelong games! That is what I like to see, people who aren't even Geelong fans signing up as members.

I don't have a target that I want us to reach next year, I just think we'll get above 36,000. I'll be happy with anything above that.

Not really, I didn't have a membership this year or last year (had one in 2005, 2004, 2003 etc though) so does that make me not a propper Geelong supporter or something?

I will be getting one for next season and I'm 100% honest in saying that it's got nothing to do with how well we're playing.
I'm getting a membership because I'm old enough to go with friends or alone to the footy now. :thumbsu:

Well, you're just a young girl, and I'm assuming that you haven't got a lot of money to spend on things like membership. For us older bigfooty members though, membership fees aren't exactly going to break the bank.
