It just makes sense to be an AFL member for me - apart from the fact that we play 6 away games in Melbourne that my regular membership didn't entitle me to, I go to a few other games not involving GFC particularly as my boyfriend is a Collingwood supporter.
I feel your pain, I really do. :(

I don't think I'd ever not get a membership. Ya have to support your club in some way weather you go to games or not. But my support did vary this past year.

2007 was the first time in many years that I reverted back to just buying the standard '11 home game' membership instead of my usual '17 home and away game' membership. Mostly because I knew I wouldn't be going to the Sunday twilight games. Although I did enjoy watching those games at the Grovey pub.

But with 2008 being dominated by Friday & Saturday games I'll be back to 17. Prolly get it sometime in February. No rush.

Just bought a Melbourne membership package online via the club's website. I'm very rarely able to travel to Geelong, and I'm not even sure I'll be able to attend all of our games in Melbourne but that is not an issue for me.

I'd like to see our club become a powerhouse club on- and off-field so we can shove it up the AFL and Collingwood for the kind of deals they dish out to our 2008 fixture.

The club is aiming to sign up 34,000 members this year (source: http://www.gfc.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=3933&newsId=53457) but I'm confident this figure will be surpassed.

Go Cats!

Well I hope I will not be chastised too heavily for my confession.

My wife and I have lived within walking distance of Kardinia Park for about 34 years, and never attended a match. Last time either of us attended, we were young teenagers. During our earlier years at our current address, we were heavily into renovating our house (had to do it all ourselves due to lack of funds - another reason for no membership). Raising kids didn't help the budget either. We could actually hear the crowd roar every time Geelong kicked a goal.

Now it might sound very co-incidental, but the honest truth is that we had been saying to ourselves for a couple of years that we should get on down and watch a few games. So early in the 2007 season we did, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing (just so happens that every game we saw at KP, the Cats won !).

So, this year, the Membership application forms have been submitted (very early), and we are both hoping for a seat. Even booked a flight to Adelaide for the opening Port match.

Better late than never, I guess.

I have been a supporter of the club since 1989 but could only attend a handful of matches each year due to personal circumstances. Just as I began to wonder, following the disastrous 2006, whether the current 'golden' generation of players would be able to deliver what all long-suffering Cats fans have been desperately waiting for, this year's magnificent achievement couldn't have come at a better time.

Well Sir, let's hope the signs are there that the Cats will win even more games now that you are attending regularly, and go on to claim back-to-back premierships.

I got our renewal forms in the mail yesterday.

To renew my Adult 17 membership, Skilled Stadium and Telstra Dome seat packages it will cost me $421.

Will be heading down to the club early next week to sign up for 2008.
