From my experience this morning the interweb system isn't much better!
Sorry to hear that mate, I may have been lucky, but I got online at 8:55am, signed in, put my three barcodes in, chose what section I wanted (538), picked how many tickets I wanted, and then waited until 9am, pressed OK and got my tickets within three seconds, add credit card and went through, and had my emailed tickets by 9:02am

Why don't they do tickets for Finals like the Grand Final allocation.

Each year when renewing your membership you tick a box to say you want to have a similar ticket for all home Finals and Ticketek automatically deduct your credit card and emails you a ticket.

It would cut out 90% of the traffic on the website in the Members purchase period.

Sounds good in theory, but I think the problem will be attendance. Many people have 11 game memberships and only attend 7 or 8 games, and I guess the concern would be that people would be saying yes to finals tickets in November for September the following year - it leaves a lot of time for people's circumstances to change, and would likely result in a smaller attendance. Atleast with buying them the week before, anyone who is buying tickets is 99% chance of actually attending.

I think it's blatantly obvious that heaps of Geelong members have taken advantage of the members only ticketing period, and bought tickets purely for the purpose of selling at a huge profit

These are going way quicker than the GWS game. Way quicker.

Managed to use the phone app and scored great Cat 1's. I never use a PC/laptop for tickets these days.
The difference this time, at least initially, Geelong members have access to about 20-25000 tickets, due to their membership numbers being similar to ours, I wouldn't have thought that more than 5000 would actually travel to the game but they have to be given a chance to get tix, there will be a lot being released at 2pm that we haven't been given access too this morning.

If anyone on BigFooty knows the answer to how any of the deals are structured, it will be RussellEbertHandball
Most of the revenue streams the clubs have gained access to during the finals have nothing to do with attendance numbers. They have the right to sell the 12 and 10 people corporate boxes both closed and open air boxes. They get access to corporate advertising and signage revenue. The club's would get revenue from hosting pre game functions that they organise ie the McLaughlin Room pre game lunch/dinner that around 400 can attend.

The AFL pay the SMA a hiring fee which my guess would be about $250k based on what I know about other events at other stadiums ie $5/head for the full capacity of the venue. The clubs may or may not get access to some of that revenue stream. The clubs wouldn't get access to food and beverage streams at the kiosks and bars the public ie non corporates, make purchases from. Rucci said the crows got approx $300k for last years elimination final where 49,0007 attended. see

QUESTION 7 at the Adelaide Football Club members’ information meeting was more of a statement.“Thank you, thank you, thank you for making a profit,” said the man who was effusive in his praise of the Crows’ board and executive. This delight could have been matched - even surpassed - by only one other gathering at Adelaide Oval, those in the Stadium Management Authority board room.

Soon, the Crows - and Port Adelaide Football Club - will start with the SMA another review of the stadium deal at Adelaide Oval. Last time, it took 211 days to come up with arrangements that delivered more cash to the AFL clubs, such as the $300,000 the Crows collected for hosting an AFL final at the Oval last season.

Obviously the $180 is the secondary ticket off the one membership, it's odd that that's the one that is quoted in the media, normally the lower price is the one pushed to the public.
seems a strange way of promoting it, oh well, more money in my pocket for the mrs to spend in Melbourne next weekend

GA tickets already on well known scalping websites for $188 plus their booking fees.

So much for the major event status/anti-scalping laws.
