Yeah it would be around that date for it to count on the figures and for the member to be able to buy finals tickets with their membership. This is what the GFC site says:

Round 12, membership purchased after this round are not included in the official figures or eligible for finals access

Sorry, ogtta disagree. You buy the membership not for personal gain, but for the club. Ive known people who buy memberships but only go to 3-4 games per year. Its to help the club. I for one would do anything for the GFC, no matter whats happening on the field.

Yeah, too true...I bought my membership while in the USA, knowing quite well I wouldn't be able to make the 25,000km trek to KP for a game
Although the old man and brother have made occasional use of it.
