yeh....

fantastic effort by the mighty Hawks.

Nathan Lonie you are a star, along with Greene, you are the future of the Hawks

Johhny Barker brilliant effort, not a great first half but worked into it very well and your four goals were terrific

Kris Barlow worked really hard all day and was rewarded by getting a heap of the ball

Daniel Chick, you are a legend, best player on the ground all day and your 1%ers dont go unnoticed by us die hard Hawks supporters, your tackling is inspirational

Shane Crawford, shaky start but very consistent throughout the day, well done Crawfs

Steven Greene, you are a future star, you are already killing the opposition with your silky skills and what a great goal with the banana, you probably should have done the right thing and gone with the left foot but as long as you kicked the goal, well done mate.

Dutchy- Very good for his first game back, took a few clever marks and your leadership was great, fantastic to hear how appreciated you are by the Hawks supporters.

Overall, a great effort by the Hawks, there are sooo many more players I could have listed above as being terrific but unfortunately I dont have time just at the moment, but never the less, well done Hawks.

And also, well done to the wonderful supporters, they really got behind the guys today and I am sure the players noticed how vocal we were. Lets keep it up.

Had to love how Chick was telling the crowd to sing the theme song louder, only to be surprised when the ball suddenly came into the forward line! Naturally, he bumped his opponent out of the way and kicked a goal!

Great performance by DC - inspiration plus. In fact, the whole team was great today, in particular THE NUTTER who had a good game, Johnny Barker, Crawf, Heebie, Woodsy and especially Son of a Gun Steven 'Soggy' Greene.

This bloke is a dead set superstar - I think he will be eligible for the Rising Star Award still in 2002 - if that's the case put down your glasses, barring injury he will walk it in.

speaking of surpised - what about down back when Joel Smith (?) had the ball kicked back to him, and he was facing the other way.:p

Yeah, not sure what was going on there! Was almost as funny as when the Sydney player took a half volley in the Hawthorn goal square and tried to con the ump it was a mark. Ump had none of it, called play on and he stood there like a stunned mullet, Tallis tackled him rugby style and ended up carrying over the line for a behind!

While I'm giving the boy a wrap, can I commend him on his excellent conducting of the crowd in the last quarter. Give him a baton and set him loose on a symphony orchestra.

Daniel Chick - multi-talented! :D

LOL! He did play bloody well, though he should get reported for headbutting Dunkleys forearm, what a disgrace ;)

Barker played well again and Lonie looks like being as good as his brother. What a left foot!

On a serious note, after all the kerfuffle regarding the rd 9 lockout yesterdays crowd was a little disappointing. Where were all the hawk fans?

Yes, as a Hawthorn supporter I was extremely disappointed with yesterday's crowd. Full credit to the supporters that DID show up - the passion and support shown by them was fantastic - it seemed the Hawthorn faithful were determined to enjoy the day and really support the team.

But as for the poor crowd - who knows? I guarantee it would have got more if it was at the MCG, but that's no excuse. Still, most Hawks supporters on Bigfooty appeared to go to the game -and for all who didn't, boy did you miss out on a great game! :p

On Greene's Left Leg -

He said on Channel 7 news last night that he had a hamstring problem in his left leg and the doctors told him to just banana it on his right during the game! So he has got a left foot and can even kick with it!:) It would be pretty susprising if he couldn't considering his father is a PE teacher and old player.

He is a very accomplished young man who performs brilliantly in front of the camera. Very articulate, personable and a real spark unlike Mr Lloyd who must be one of the most banal and dumb people to ever stand before a camera!

I love his passion for the club. After the game Dougie interviewed him and he ranted on about how he had always loved the club, admired his father etc. Could be one of us if we had a modicum of skill!:)

If you have the '89 GF check him out on his Dad's shoulders (his Dad's wearing jeans and a shirt) in the Hawthorn jumper on the ground with all the players as they wait for their medals. Brilliant.

DCFC - I think I'd be in major trouble if I joined. I have been banned from ALL forms of bandwagoning - due to Dutchy and Bof's horror season with injuries :D

Anyway - I need to concentrate on selling the Sly fan club tickets :D

Chris, Elt, Hitter, Grendel - get out there and start pushing sales a little please boys :D
