Battle is a sneaky chance to be our number 1 target imho
Suspect he’s the reason we let Bruce go...

Saad on Membrey has never happened and never will ,Members is a very tough one for opposition to match up on. Bombers usually have issues with him as well, they try Hurley on him, but he is too quick for him and then they try someone like Saad on him and he is too strong in the air.
Hey, was gonna ask in the preseason thread but wondered if a new thread would be better.
What are your predictions for Membrey’s upcoming season? He’s our best tall option, despite being medium sized. He usually takes the second best defender and makes them pay when they don’t give him the attention he deserves.
Without Bruce there to take the best tall defender, How will Membrey fair?
Will Ryder/King be enough to occupy the defence and let him play his natural game, or will he be forced to deal with closer attention? Or will his deceptively high leap, strong hands and straight kick make him capable of beating the full backs?
Will he be our leading goal kicker again? Or is it someone else’s next season?
Thoughts?
I suspect the Members is going to be getting right up the ground with Battle ala Tom Lynch at the Crows.
Think we plonk 2 of King/Ryder/Marshall deep forward with the smalls there to crumb and then the 2 mid size options become targets leading back to goal more often than not. Means we will get some mismatches as flankers will need to run with these guys or let them take 10 marks a game each up on the wings.
How our midfield delivers it is critical though. No point making space for Membrey to stream round the back of a pack only to have the ball get punted 30m to the opposite pocket!!

Being our only experienced forward I hope he stays around goal. There is no such thing as mismatches if the talls just aren't good enough. King hasn't played a game and Ryder has never been anything but a very average forward. Even Marshall is completely unproven as a tall forward. If membery gets to far up the ground then it makes a weak forward line even weaker. Membery should play the role he has always played. That has meant he has kicked nearly the most goals the last 3 or 4 years. Lynch gets up the ground because walker and Jenkins were proven goal kickers. Also Lynch and Membery couldn't play anymore differently. One is a running machine that isn't great overhead. The other is a standard and jump forward who is one of the best marks in the AFL.
I think it’s fair to say everyone is just guessing what the saints will look like next year. No different with Members role other than forward.
I like your styleTrue but there are good and bad guesses. I think Lonie will ruck but some others may disagree.
Membrey will kick 75 goals this season. Gresham 40, Billings 38 and King 35.Hey, was gonna ask in the preseason thread but wondered if a new thread would be better.

Love that to be case. Gresh is the only chance of being close.Membry will kick 75 goals this season. Gresham 40, Billings 38 and King 35.
All 4 will get thereLove that to be case. Gresh is the only chance of being close.
No they won’t. You are just deliberately talking rubbish. All 4 will get there

Not at all. I am very confident. Providing they all play 22 games. No they won’t. You are just deliberately talking rubbish.
No. Credibility. Donald trump. Not at all. I am very confident. Providing they all play 22 games.
With King in the team, Membrey will get off the leash.
Typical Plugger66 playing the man. How about proper discussion which is what a forum is for?No. Credibility. Donald trump.
It’s hard to have a serious discussion when you put totally unserious numbers of gaols for some players. If you want serious then you can start. I’d be happy with membery getting 44 goals. Gresh 30. Billings 15. King 15.Typical Plugger66 playing the man. How about proper discussion which is what a forum is for?
Hit outs? Maybe but it won’t help the side if that happens. I want Marshall to have 700 hit outs. Means he is playing 80% ruck time. Unfortunately that probably means Ryder is playing 70% forward time.Marshall 90.
I don’t get it either. Battle should play fwd with Marshall as sole ruck IMHOHit outs? Maybe but it won’t help the side if that happens. I want Marshall to have 700 hit outs. Means he is playing 80% ruck time. Unfortunately that probably means Ryder is playing 70% forward time.
Isn’t our ruck duo replacing Bruce who kicked 36 goals this year?If our ruck pairing yielded 25 goals this season it would be a vast improvement on prior years.
Gresham will kick 30+ goals if we can get him forward of centre square. If Bytel and Clark come on, Hanners stays fit and if Jones plays in the guts then that’s a distinct possibility.
King looks like the type that will kick bags as well. I think we are all guilty of underestimating his pace and how hard that is to match up on when combined with his height and marking prowess. After Bing won the GF sprint I looked back through some Highlights of Winx and on draft night he spoke about his pace. He knows where his strengths are, we just have to create the right role for him and everything BLade has said leading into now suggests the club understands that well.
You tell me plugger I am just a glorified guesser.Isn’t our ruck duo replacing Bruce who kicked 36 goals this year?
