To Messrs. Reid Lew et al, if you do not have the skill or ability to deal with the bio mechanical issues facing Scott Gumbleton, then leave. Some of you belong in the museum, and so do your techniques.

Last night, Gumbleton went down with his fourth hamstring, I repeat fourth hammy in 15 months. He will soon be moving on scar tissue instead of the hamstrings he needs to play the game. I said last Thursday he should not be risked.

The kid with number 3 moves, plays and presents himself in a way rarely seen, and deserves better medical attention.

I think your right, should take their time in bringing Gumby back now. Give him time

stander......what u have stated here is accurate...I think Gumbleton came to the club with hamstring probs......so why was he not treated more carefully:confused:

I am also worried about the way ML is managed with his hamstring probs:thumbsd:

Who's fault is it?

Perhaps maybe Gumby wasn't being as honest as he should've been when appraising the health of his hammy.

No he didnt. Never had a hammy problem until last year.
Lloyd is a different story. Just about everyone who has ever had a hamstring tendon go has had some sort of on going problem afterwards.

If you are going to bag people at least get the facts correct. He has had two hamstring tears. The first one which may well be caused the the couple of hammy thightness problems that he suffered over christmas ( and more than likely the most recent one) was mostly his own fault. The players are instructed to head off and see the physio as soon as they feel any sort of tightness. He didnt. He continued to train and he paid the price.
Maybe if the players decide to stick to the program with more detail they may not suffer as many soft tissue injuries.
I guess their efforts in getting Dempsey back on track do not warrant any credit.......
It is very easy to sit on the sideline and take pot shots.

Probably also important to note that the hamstring tear was in the opposite leg to the one he had tightness in a week or so ago.

WHat cr*p from standar and TheDon35. I'm assuming you're both qualified physiotherapists/sports physicians and you at the very least have talked to GUmbleton in the lead up to the game. WHat's that? You're not? In that case you are not at all qualified to comment on whether the medicos were at all negligent as you have no clue (a not uncommon phenemenon with some posters around here)

Thats right. ANYONE can use facts to prove a point. But to prove youself right based on absolutely nothing, well, that is the sign of a great debating mind. :p

Looks like your little holiday up North has brought you back with some fire and brimstone Ant robus. Facts are he had two hammys last year and two this year and the info I received last week was that it was an unncessary risk to play him, which I openly declared. No one is immune from criticism especially during all the backslapping- no room for complacency at Windy Hill.

Pot shots indeed, when warranted, and from the sidelines, where else? When you're dealing with a possible Ken Fraser in the making, the medicos are accountable. Don't forget, we're dealing with young blokes who don't always follow instructions. Instructions to come off don't mean a thing unless the players know the reasons for it.

Totally agree - when you have completed your Medical degree then you can make such totally inaccurate statements! Players must also take some responsibility for themselves and stick to the instructions they are given. the medical staff do a magnificent job and I don't think many supporters understand the efforts they put in!!!

Maybe you had better do your research a bit better ;)

I'll stand corrected on Gumbleton.....but it still does not alter the fact..that hamstring managment needs an overhaul at Bomberland....we once were kings at it.

ESSENDON coach Matthew Knights and high-performance manager John Quinn will map out a reshaped rehabilitation schedule for Scott Gumbleton, who tore his hamstring for the third time in 12 months on Saturday night.

I have already stated that Lloyd need special attention...I hope we give it to him:rolleyes:

Let's be realistic here. You, and everyone else that posts on these boards will not have as much knowledge, skill and expertise as the people in positions of significance at the club.

Get off your high horse, you know nothing, aboutGumby or about what rehab he should ge though....

You have stated that Lloyd needs special attention? Who cares what you've stated?

Lets be realistic here.....u know absolutley nothing about what I may know.

And I will continue to put my opinins on here:p

As you proved yourself in this very thread, on this very topic, you know nothing re Gumby....you know nothing, yet you comment as if you're an expert and all you prove to do is show us you indeed know nothing....

I never.... anywhere in any thread claimed to be an expert......

I've seen a few hamstring problems. believe me.
