some pretty full on memories for you!
i always get jittery before a game and can't seem to stop myself fiddling with random things.
I think all of us do before a game starts i am constantly pacing around i probably get a good 4 k pace around the house biting my nails

Another memory was the draw between us and st kilda a couple of weeks later after the dayne cresswell kangaroo game i remember feeling nothing we came back from behind to draw....

Ever considered rubbing one out, maybe a couple of hours before kick off?

Daryn Cresswell.
2002 was a nightmare year after Cressa kicked the winning goal (thanks shannon motlop) against the Roos.

- When someone (Paul Williams?) was kicking for goal, and there was no one in the goalsquare except for Jon Stevens who tried to avoid it, but he ended up touching the ball before it crossed the line.
- Beating Brisbane when they the team to beat (03-04?)
- When Greg Stafford was a decent ruckman.
- Paul Kelly making an unexpected return against Freo at Subi. Flew high to take a speccy as well. Too bad we lost that day.
- Robbie Ahmat's goal of the year, running down the Brewongle wing.
- 10 goal final quarter against Melbourne in 03 sparking the tremendous run of that year.
- Those long Dan McPherson goals. God I miss those.

2005 Grand Final - Never thought I'd see the day where the Swans would win the big one. Finally we did it and hell what a way to do it. The celebrating afterwards was also worth the wait and the money it cost:D

2003 Qualifying Final vs Port Adelaide - No one gave us a chance, even I didn't expect to win, but hoped to see the Swans cause the mother of all upsets, so went over to Adelaide on a bit of a lark more than anything else and boy did I did come home happy:thumbsu:

Pluggers 16 goals against Fitzroy in 1995. Never before have I seen a Swans player rip apart a side like that in my time supporting the club. It was like I could see for the first time that our future had "success" built into for once. Best part was the fact by brother was at the ground and was a Fitzroy supporter.

2004 Elimination Final vs West Coast - "We're singing in the rain". The match wasn't memorable, but the weather was.

2005 Semi Final vs Geelong - Nick Davis really did save us and from where I was standing (no one was sitting around us in that last 5 minutes) I knew it was a goal the second Davis guided the ball towards his foot. All I remember next is jumping to my feet and ending up 10 seats across and a row down from where I was standing such was the crowd's reaction.

2005 Preliminary Final vs St Kilda - That last Quarter once we got that 3rd Goal we just "knew" we had them and the week ahead was set. Nice and calm for 20 minutes and just let it soak in unlike 96 where no one had ANYTIME to come to terms with what was taking place.

"when greg stafford was a decent ruckman"???

He was very good in the late 90s, when he was not injured of course.
When goodes had to go in the ruck when stafford got injured,it really showed up how overated he was.
One of his biggest problems was he never could jump very high,
This is a memorable monent because it was when goodes became a star.

Oh yeah, how could i forget.

Rd 4, 1996. We played Richmond at Waverly Park. Richmond were coming off a very good 1995 IIRC and we were given no chance of winning this one. :D

It was drizzling most of the day i think and scoring goals was hard to come by. But in the last quarter i was up behind the goals richmond were kicking to, and there was nothing in this game and the Swans were hanging on for grim life. The ball was camped in Richmonds 50m zone for what felt like the entire last quarter.

When we cleared it out of there, at times Plugger had to come up to the wing to even get a kick, i distinctly remember one occasion when he took a mark on the wing there were plenty of bronx cheers. But the funny thing was there was not one player ahead of him. Not one and he was on the wing. :p

Anyway, right at the death i think it was Daffy who had a snap shot on goal, Dunkley was right on the line where he was going to try and touch it to prevent a goal, until Richo came flying through and flattened Dunkley before he got the chance to jump at it. The ball sailed through for a goal and the Richmond fans went up thinking they had scored the goal which put them back in front.

It wasn't to be. The ump gave a free kick to Dunkley and the Swans hung on by a point. :thumbsu:

My most memorable moment is a bit different to every one else - It's the game that I realized that we really were contenders and for the first time it occurred to me that a flag coming to Sydney was not just a pipe dream.
It was round 11, 2004. A beautiful sunny Sydney day at the SCG and the opposition was the "super" team - St Kilda. They were undefeated in the first 10 rounds after winning the pre-season comp.
We came out that day and played some of the best footy I have ever seen from a Swans team, we led at every quarter and they were never in the game.
The discussion in the car the whole way home (and it's an hour plus trip) was what the future held for the Swans and how it was so damn fine to be a Swans supporter in this era.

I've never lost that feeling! :):):)

"The Winning Streak"

I still have cramps in my stomach from laughing so hard.
If we ever do that, I'd be bloody embarrassed.

Swans gnomes are allright though :thumbsu::p

O'Loughlin's final quarter in the '05 Grand Final showed how fine the line can be between sporting greatness and being the focus of ridicule. Only four straight kicks and his final quarter would have been mentioned in the same breath as that of Jarman or Ablett. He was simply astonishing at continually presenting, getting the ball and keeping it in Sydney's forward line - even when he had already fluffed a couple of disposals and was obviously out-on-his-feet. His courage in that final quarter has never been truly appreciated. Far from being the reason we almost lost it, he was the reason we actually won it IMO. Yet of course if we had lost he would have undoubtedy been the fallguy and the scorn of a generation of Sydney supporters. Gotta love the fickleness of sport. My most memorable moment - 30 minutes of greatness (and a little comedy).

i agree with most of that, and micky o did play an amazing roller-coaster game
but i suspect had we lost poor old luke ablett might've copped a fair bit of flak

I think everyone's taken this as a cue for good memorable moments, anyone have any bad ones?

I think all of us died a little then and there, last years' finals loss against Collingwood also killed me a bit.

Not sure about an actual moment, but that semi-final against Adelaide in '98 (?) in heavy rain at the SCG. Got soaked and sick, Swans were just terrible, key players on the bench early, we never fired a shot in that game, lost badly. Watching Adelaide smash the Bulldogs the next week then go on and take the flag made me even sicker.
