Not just of Whitten oval.

Ben Sexton on Guy Mckenna.Knee buckled. The ump blew the whistle already! About the only thing Sexton did at the club. Was that the same day he kicked a few goals that moved both ways in the air?

Wallaces jaw after Grinters crude round arm spoiling attempt. The ump that didn't report him.

Matty Hogg's nose after Bernard Toohey smashed it right in front of the members. No wonder we recruited Toohey.

Fosters leg mentioned in other thread

Kennedy surfing Dunstalls back!

"round arm spoiling attempt"??!

I was sitting 5m away from the incident, and let me tell you the only thing Grinter was trying to spoil was was Wallaces ability to chew solid food.

Not only that, the umpire called holding the ball on wallace (who was unconcious lying on top of the ball). Cant remember if he reversed the descision when wallace was carted off the ground.

plugger being beaten by Kennedy at Whitten oval.

cant remember the leadup but the result was kennedy on the ground in fetal position covering his head, with plugger kneeling over him punching him repeatedly in the head. I think plugger went on to kick 9 or 10.

On "Jack Dyers wild men of footy" Plugger said the only guy who scared him was Kennedy. "When his eyes rolled back in his head you knew you were in trouble" said Plugger.

The acompanying footage was the instance Stefoid mentions. It sure didn't look like Plugger was too frightened to me.

Daniel Southern et al (Kretiuk and Ellis?) "welcoming" Michael Gardiner to the Whitten Oval, v West Coast in '97.

I also remember one of the finals in '92 at the MCG when Billy Kolyniuk was on the ground choking a geelong player before the ball had even been bounced at the start of the match.

... and the half time clash between Bulldogs and Essendon at Colonial in 2000, and Johnno giving Barnes what for at the end of the match.

1978 Western Oval. Carlton led by 5 goals just before half time. Alex Jesaulenko had taken over as Carlton caoach and had led the Blues to 8 straight wins. Just before half time Terry Wheeler ran straight Jezza with the best, most perfect hip and shoulder I have ever seen. Jezza was in lalaland, Percy Jones had to take over as coach and we got up to win by 5 goals.

Scott Wynd being knocked out for what seemed like an eternity at Princess Park in 1993

Cookie cleaning up Robert Scott in the last round of 1998, losing us the game and getting himself reported

Wally cleaning up Brett Heady, best shirtfront I have seen by the toughest Bulldog I have ever seen

The melee that erupted from "intimidating" Michael Gardiner in round 21 1997. Dent and Ellis were throwing haymakers left, right and center. The next week Hawthorn tried to rough us up and the match started with Wyndy getting a 100m penalty

The melee in 2000 v Essendon and Libbers bloody face afterwards, then the complete shock that were was no investigation into how Libbers face got that way

Simon Minton-Connell knocking himself out after his debut v Fremantle as he banged his head on the ground after the siren in frustration

Anyone else remember the day the power went out?

We were playing Geelong and it was nearing 3/4 time and there was a power failure. The timekeeper was ringing this old bell because the siren didnt work but the umpire couldnt hear him.

PC. Did Dimma get reported that day as well?
What a shock that the first person ever to get suspended came from the Bullies, and for finals as well. We are trendsetters, first club to have a player suspended for wrestling, to be fined for "intimdation", to be fined for "sledging" to be suspended for clawing, Jose for accidentally, scratching and to have our best player lose a Brownlow after the umps and everyone barring Ian Collins thought he was innocent. I'm getting angry now, fortunately we don't get in as much trouble anymore

And how many times do you see a player elbow an umpire in the face and get away with it? Funnily the closest opposition player-who just happened to be a bulldog-gets punished.

IIRC we were also the first club to have a player suspended for accidental contact with an umpire. Suprise, suprise that particular umpire has necer umpired a bulldog match since. Kieron Nicholls I havent forgotten you son.

God that was a long time ago... But yes, i believe you are most certainly correct. 97 missed because of injury, 98 because of suspention 99 was almost our best player vs the Eagles...

So yes, you are correct :)

In 98 Dimma was retaliating against two Hawks who I don't think got suspended and just tapped one in the guts. He was well in our top few players that year.

wasn't it 97 he was out suspended?

I thought Dimma, Southern and Kolyniuk all missing finals action in 1997 due to suspension.

Raydon Tallis got reported for hitting Cookie and copped a week. Then fronted up for the reserves final the next week!

The AFL said because he got reported in the seniors he had to serve his suspension in the seniors - in the next years Ansett Cup!
