If Mendieta continues to play like he just did against Chelsea he will be Boros best buy in a long long time. He absolutely dominated and set up at least 3 good chances

We should have got a draw :(

True that. I was disappointed for Boro that they dropped the point, particularly because the likes of Mendieta, Nemeth and Doriva did some nice things.

Managed to watch the game and yes, Mendieta was in great form. Eventhough they got nothing out of the game there were encouraging signs.

One of the problems with a guy like Mendietta, or any playmaker, is winning the confidence of his teammates. When he gets off the plane lots of his teammates get their noses out of joint and demand he prove himself. It takes a few games, some nice passes and a 2nd half like last night for them to be won over. Once they are they look to get the ball to him all the time and he gets a chance to shine.

Going to be difficult to get Mendieta and Juninho on the field at the same time though.

Juninho will sit on the bench while we are playing well. When he played everything went through him and if he got closed down we were screwed. Our midfield will be Mendi - Boat - Dorive/Greening - Zenden with Juninho on th bench and either Greening or Doriva

I was watching it thinking this Mendietta fella is a class above.

One thing that caught my eye was the amount of seemingly 50/50 balls he seemed he came out with.

I hope Mendieta stays after this season since he is only on load ATM. He has always been a very good player, key to Valencia's consecutive Champions League final appearances.

He can't go, as soon as the loan ends an automatic 4 year contract kicks in. The only reason he is on loan is because Lazio hadn't finished paying for him and can't sell his registration until they do. He either plays with us next season or is sold with the fee going to us
