Meningie Bears and BDT Merger

The Meningie Bears and BDT Crows (Border Downs Tintinara) have agreed "in principle" to merge for the 2023 season onwards, with the combined club to compete in the River Murray Football League - leaving the Mallee Football League with five clubs and the league's viability and survival being questioned.

No idea at this stage. Details to be released soon.

SA Regional Footy isn't that bad as a whole. Some leagues and clubs are struggling at the moment, eg the Eyre Peninsula lost an entire league (Mid West) and a couple of mergers took place but nothing horrible. South East is another one with a few question marks, and the Independent league in the Riverland has broken away from the main RFL.

Most leagues are doing well but could be better. I'm in the NEFL league and we're still going well

The new club will be called the Coorong Cats and will wear Geelong colours

Good luck to the Cats on their merger and I hope that they are successful in the River Murray league.

Unfortunately, there will be many more mergers in grassroots footy in the next few years, especially in Victoria.

Yep grassroots struggling not just numbers but volunteer aspect as well. If AFL peaked down from their silver tower they may see that.
