A matchwinning knock from Samson, the Windies had a good tournament but they couldn't quite match it with SA and India.

I think they will probably be too good for NZ and England too

Who India and SA?

SA yes.

India…

Honestly given what they have shown in the SA thumping and this match where, to be frank, they probably got out of jail a bit - some dire bowling from us and overly cautious batting from Hope (he was also just struggling at times but he was a bit subdued) - do you really think they’re that good? I thought before the tournament they were hot favourites but I think England could easily topple them. A special from Brook or Salt or heaven help us Butler if he remembers which end of the bat to hold and anything could happen.

West Indies did well to get to where they did. Definitely would have proud of their tournament and even in their losses they showed ticker.

They will be a potential challenger in 2028.

We are 1-2 bowlers away from being a real powerhouse. I think we showed our batting more than matches any side going around, at least on paper.

A leg spinner would be extremely valuable

Im gonna be that guy: I think Hetmeyer got dudded after looking at some articles today. Big mismatch in the vision front on and side on, there’s a pretty clear gap between bat and ball. The noise arrives at an odd time in the roll through.

I don’t buy into any conspiracy (there’s a lot of Pakistani fans online who are haha) but quite simply this seems to be happening way too often lately where not everything is marrying up.

I understand the disappointment of getting out and not wanting to be out but he was pretty animated and it wasn’t like bat and pad were close together.

We blew it anyway later on but still disappointing if that’s the case

Just finished the replay now and that ****ing sucks. Windies out and India in is a double whammy if ever there was one. West Indies just couldn't get the job done unfortunately – Shamar Joseph esp had a shocker while Holder couldn't be dropping catches like that. But a bloody travesty they won't be in the semi finals as they had a superb tournament.

I was surprised it was given out due to a little spike on Snicko, he reviewed it straight away and it didn't look like he had hit it.

Batsmen get given out even for little spikes on Snicko despite no other evidence and I'm not sure it is always 100% accurate

That would have left 35 to get off 23, five down. Samson played an amazing, chanceless knock. But I got the feeling that he always felt comfortable because of the players he had at the other end; who isn’t going to be confident with SKY or Pandya batting with them as a bail out option in a high pressure game?

When Dube did finally come in he played a couple of nice shots but he basically had a free swing at it.

Unfortunately with white ball cricket you only really get the chance to show the fruit of your efforts in tournament play unlike test cricket. So as much as I think we have really built about 80 per cent of a scary unit, it’s another 2 years before we will be able to show it.

I do wonder if a player like Kyle Mayers would be worth looking at if we would teach him to bowl slower balls (he’s obviously not a ‘fast’ bowler anyway) but bowling the Bravo/Pollard style stuff. Plus he’s a huge hitter when he’s in

Each game didn’t warrant its own thread, one for the group stage, one for the super 8s, one for the semis and one for the final would have been the way to do it.
