Toast Menzel, Hunt, Duncan

Really good post 5 days after the event.

I was wondering why he went straight in.
He has been good. But he is a kid and didn't deserve that in my eyes.

And yes he looked out of it. I think that these parts sum up the rest of your post.

Also, he seems reckless by nature. It's not a bad thing.

Agree VC, should have come back through VFL.

Looked rusty, however that's understandable under the circumstances.

Has a massive role with his pace and hardness at the contest, not the star skill of Dunzel but will play many many games for us just the same.

He's also going to make blues at times because they ask him to attack with his pace and run straight lines basically all the time. The coaches will back him even when he does because that's the role he's been told to fulfil. He'll get dropped when he stops doing that, not when he makes errors.

I am not sure Taylor Hunt belongs with the other 2.

I would probably have Christensen ahead of him as well.

Still we've had trouble with quick forwards since I can remember, so a quick back pocket is important, albeit not exciting.

Scott is probably working on the basis that Hunt is now best-22 or die trying. Agree that he was pretty sloppy vs. Carlton but will be better for the experience and should be much sharper against GC.

I think a few here are a bit rough on young Poodle...I thought it was a great show of faith in the lad that Scott put him straight back in. I suspect Scott didn't expect a lot from him first up. Wouldn't have hurt the kid's confidence to see the faith Scott had in him.

He has excellent foot skills...goes hard at it and has real pace. There's no doubting his courage either. He will get better too. May not win a Brownlow but will be a very serviceable player at the very least.

Will play a lot of games for the Cats

Also we have to concede that we don't have the insights of the coaching team. I would never have believed that Longergan would become as important as he has. I also didn't think Byrnes would be as important as he became for us in 2009 and 2010. So I'm enjoying watching Hunt as a work in progress and who knows he may be the star of the bunch by the end of his career.

His foot skills and ability to see options up ahead have impressed me too. He is better than a good ordinary.

Yep I have heard they want the ball in his hands when entering the 50 if possible. They rate his ball use that highly already.

And Scott has said over and over that they will not punish players for skill errors. Probably explains why Mackie wont get dropped ;):p
