After 4 years at the top I thought it was safe to finally embark on the Latin American oddysey I´d been dreaming of for so long. Apparently not so.

It's almost as though you have taken the DNA of Stevie J and embarked on a stemcell continuation program.

He was the difference over here, absolute gun.

They must have removed the bad decision gene. I can't believe a kid Menzel's age can almost invariably do the right thing at the right time. The only other player I know that does that is Jimmy.

Mitch Duncan struggled last week against the Dawks and still bagged three goals.

Oh, and if you have not seem Mitch's mark against seasoned veteran Steven Baker, here it is again.

i have some serious manlove for menzel, almost my favorite player already, and it goes without saying that i would love to have a beer with duncan.

The first time that I saw this video of Duncan's mark (although I was at the game), I detected some movement.

With T Hunt's injury and Mooney just about done barring emergency Sunday's practice match could provide a massive opportunity for these two as well as Christensen to get back in.

We're playing a practice match the day after we play the Roos?:p

I have also got a stiffy over the thought that with Selwood, Varcoe, Taylor, Hawkins, Simpson and now Duncan, Menzel, Hunt, Vardy, Brown we will have no chance of bottoming out!

I have created a monster with my Mitch Duncan comment.

The one in your shorts rabbi??:eek:

Its a revelation...a resurrection...a resurgence... a rock ....

Women of the world...be afraid...be very afraid.

They are saying Menzel is like a young Steve Johnson

I don't see the similartiy. Menzel is far stronger, better mark, better leap, longer kick. Not sure who is quicker though

I'd say he is ahead of SJ at same time of career

I find the compulsion to compare Stevie J and Menzel almost irresistible. The comparison has nothing to do with the adjectives "better", "stronger" or who was ahead of who at respective times in their career. It has more to do with the similarity in the way that they play the game and that they share similar skills.

Can we now update this thread title to 'Toast: Menzel Hunt Duncan and Christensen' :thumbsu:

(just playing with ya Riz, he definitely deserves the praise)

Just on Taylor Hunt. Not sure why he was rushed straight back into the team to play Carlton as he looked REALLY out of touch. Perhaps it was the threat of the pacey Carlton forwards that got him the gig.

Anyhow, I don't think he has the star potential of Duncan/Menzel but his pace and endeavour will be more than useful.

Hopefully he improves his poise and rids himself of WTF moments. The desperate throw of the ball, 10 metres out was just a reflex panic action and handed the Blues a gift goal. He also has a tendency to drop sitters (like Prismall).

Backmen simply can't afford to give away panic-induced/clumsy free kicks or drop regulation marks. Wojo is a prime example. His clumsiness and inability to consistantly lay legal tackles made him a liability down back. Thankfully this has been recognised and he now plays further up the field where he is better suited.

With more games under the belt, Taylor Hunt should develop into a very serviceable player for the GFC.
