To settle dinner-time arguments at home, I generally allow one family member to cut a fillet of salmon in half, and then the other family member chooses which half they want.

I used to let the cook cut my salmon fillet in half for me, and let the rest of the family share out all the yabbies however they liked.

"Mentally, it is a different ball game for me because it has gone from the challenges off-field to the challenges on-field, what I have to do and what I have to bring [each week]," Menzel said.

"I don't think about my knee in a game any more at all."

"The most pleasing thing for me is I am training at the moment with pretty much no knee soreness," Menzel said.

"It feels like I have got the bulk of the work in. It's about doing the little things, the one percenters to improve my game."

Those quotes from Dan are some of the most utterly pleasing arrangement of letters I've seen in a while.

Probably just me..but I get nervous just listening to that interview.. its like poking your tongue out at God and telling him .. "I dare you"
For me, this is similar to the conversation we had about playing Port Adelaide, you were nervous playing them after a heavy loss, I loved it as it's indicative of poor form.

Spin that slightly for this context, which would you prefer, what he said or the complete opposite?

"I don't stop thinking about my knee."
"The most frustrating thing for me is I am training at the moment with pretty much nothing but knee soreness," Menzel said.

So Turbo, which would you prefer?

Id prefer him not to say anything.. to get some games on the board, get thru the season , play in finals , play in blockbuster games... and then talk about it. Which is totally illogical but its what I'd prefer. ... but as they have gone this way... its great he is feeling now pain etc, etc.

I'd rather they'd be no puff piece about his knee and he just played football without there ever be another mention of or need to mention it.

Well it originated from a media piece done by the AFL based off answers to questions in his press conference, club usually doesn't get a say in those types of articles, they're usually just repeated on the club site.

Fair enough, I just wonder how long it will be until there is a piece on Menzel without mentioning his knee. It took awhile for Lonergan and his Kidney.

I don't care what he thinks. As long as he's out there living his dream.

The bloke typifies courage and resilience and sticking to your dream.

I know in nervous enough for him - it does nobody any good least of all him - but its the best footy story this year.

And the drive ti play finals is amazing.

Long may it continue and my increased blood pressure with it. :D

I happy to just to see the talent partially fulfilled. And he's getting better.

Go Catters

If he can learn to kick from set shots...

He got his first set shot vs Brisbane in his first game this year but don't think he's gotten one since then haha :D
Happy to be wrong but it doesn't make it much better. It is the only thing stopping him from kicking a bag each week

God I love this guy. The determination he's shown, the mountains of hard work he's done to get back and his maturity throughout the whole process. Today he was weaving and turning like a bloke who's never had anything wrong with him. Launching himself into packs, running around players, going in hard, and kicking goals. If he can make it through the rest of the season injury-free, I think he'll light it up for us in the finals. Good on you, Dan. What a legend.

how was that passage of play between he and Lobb!
Both boys kept their eyes on the footy all the way, Menzel jumped early, hung in the air but it was Lobb who managed to bring the ball down for the mark. One of the best non-marks (if that's possible) you will see for a few years. Incredible contest between both players.
He looked to be down for the count as well but one minute later, Menzel is sprinting forward calling for the footy again :D

The mark he took leading out at pace, full stretch with a man on his hammer in the last was superb, I knew we were home then. Good to see him converting too.

Many won't appreciate how difficult that is to stick. In those conditions, it's as good a mark at you will ever see.

Senior took those types of marks almost every week. Flat out with the defender right behind and the strength through the arms, simply brilliant.
